Tome - a book, especially a large, heavy, or scholarly one
Boring. That one word was perfect to describe today. Or at least that's what I thought until Dream came with a stack of books. I had been feeling down and then he just stumbled in with 5 thick books full of paranormal universe junk, just what I'd been talking about with him the day before. Dream always seemed to know what I liked, needed, and what I was thinking. More than I knew about his interests, needs, and thoughts. I watched him patiently and giggled a tiny bit when he let out an 'oof' after dropping the books on the table next to me.
"Here you are brother, I spent a while searching the tall bookshelves of our library," Dream looked tired and proud, I wanted to complain and say he didn't have to do this for me, but as the good brother I was, I didn't.
"O-oh," I still didn't know how to feel about this, I picked up a book and read the title, 'Discovery of Creation'. It seemed intriguing. "Thanks Dream, but why'd you pick these ones specifically?"
"It's about the entire creation and destruction of universes, along with some side theories. I also got one about different extraterrestrial being sightings, supposedly people from different universes," Dream informed, he sounded as interested and excited as I was feeling, "I haven't read them yet, only what they are about. I wanted to read them with you."
"Is it because you don't like to read or don't have so called 'time'?" I teased lightly, knowing that Dream didn't read because he didn't know how to. I watched Dream become flushed, it was quite easy to embarrass him if you knew how to.
"What, no!" Dream huffed, flustered, "You very well know I can't read, brother!" I chuckled lightly, and watched Dream pull up a chair to sit beside the hospital bed. I opened up the book I was holding and flipped through the introductory part.
"'Many people believe there is some greater force out there, driving everything along including stars, the sun, and moon. According to science this would seem unlikely, unless you look at it from a different point of view...'" I started reading, this book just was a theory. About how each dying, exploding star could be a universe being destroyed or how each new star was a new universe made. Also like how the sun could be the closest universe to you and the moon could be the second closest. Once the book was done I glanced over at Dream and saw he had fallen asleep, I blinked unsurprised. I set the book down and pulled out a different one, this one should be more interesting.
"Dream," I said, trying to wake him up, "Dream!" I said louder. I sighed and reached out with my free hand and shook him, "DREAM, WAKE UP!" I watched him jump in his chair, startled awake.
"I'm up! I'm up! Did I miss anything!?" I looked him dead in the eyes and watched him sigh, "I missed something didn't I?"
"You fell asleep during the book," I informed him, "It wasn't that interesting anyways, just some science junk on the solar system and how the universes may work." I opened the new book, this one was about sightings, should be more interesting to Dream because of his fanatic with 'important' people.
I watched Dream's eyes light up as I read the title, "We're going to read about sightings!?" I smiled and turned the page, not responding to see if I could fuel his excitement on the subject by reading more.
"'There have been many weird sightings of different people not native to our world, some of them look like monsters from our nightmares, others may look human but with weird abilities. Few we have been able to interact with though, it is very rare that a important deity visits our world but it has happened.'" I could feel Dream's aura buzzing beside me, positive feelings almost at their max, "'One creature we have seen is a human with bird wings, another is a human with a humongous paint brush staring off into the distance. We have seen other blurry outlines teleporting off with portals or just disappearing into thin air, not close enough to get a description of their looks. Unknown if these beings are good or bad we interviewed one that fell from the sky, unconscious as he fell, we took care of him until he awoke.'" I heard Dream gasp beside me, "'He said his name was Ink and that he protected all the AUs, he had been fighting the destroyer when he was knocked unconscious and thrown into this universe.'"
