The morning sun rose over the Hogwarts grounds, casting long shadows across the Quidditch pitch. Hayley stood near the center, her broom balanced lightly in her hand. Her heart thumped with excitement as she eyed the tall golden hoops and the open skies above. She was incredibly excited for the quidditch tournament, more excited than she had been for anything else ever.

She had been awake since 6am, staring hopefully at her ThunderBird quidditch robes. They were so beautiful.

Professor Fontaine paced in front of the ten Ilvermorny students who had gathered for the tryouts, his expression calm but scrutinizing. "Welcome to the official tryouts for the Ilvermorny Quidditch team," he began, his voice ringing clear and steady. "You've been selected to represent our school while we're here at Hogwarts, and I expect you to carry that honor with pride. This is more than just a game—it's a symbol of who we are. Ilvermorny students are strong, determined, and united."

Hayley straightened her posture, her broomstick feeling like an extension of herself. She knew every inch of her beloved broom—a custom-made Whirlwind 300, gifted to her by her mother after she made the Thunderbird House team back in her first year. It wasn't the latest model, but Hayley's skill more than compensated for that.

"I'll evaluate you in all positions," Fontaine continued. "But I want you to focus on what you do best. Show me why you deserve to be on this team." His sharp gaze swept across the group. "We'll begin with a warm-up lap around the pitch. Mount your brooms."

The students obeyed, kicking off into the air. Hayley took her place in the group but quickly broke ahead, the wind rushing past her face. She leaned into her broom, making tight turns around the hoops and dodging imaginary Bludgers with practiced ease. She had been away from quidditch for too long, she couldn't help but make the most of being able to fly again.

"Lorenzo!" Fontaine called up, his voice carrying a mix of authority and amusement. "Save some energy for the tryout!"

The other students laughed lightly, but Hayley smirked to herself. Energy wasn't a problem for her, she knew it wasn't.

Once the warmup was done, Fontaine divided the students into groups of four, assigning positions to each. Hayley was in the second group, along with Trevor Hayes, a cocky seventh-year who had spent the warm-up boasting about his Keeper skills, Mellisa Clearope, a lovely sixth year student who was an incredibly skilled seeker, and a boy in his fifth year, Tony Addington, he was also a chaser, and he was as quick as ever on his brand new broom.

The first group took to the air, and Hayley watched with a critical eye as Andrew Poler, a tall, athletic boy, raced after the Quaffle. He had speed, but his throws lacked accuracy. Vanessa Moore, wielding a Beater's bat, had good aim but was a little too aggressive, nearly knocking one of her own teammates off their broom.
