(back to Amria's pov)

Its been two days!! Two goddam days!! I'm still stuck with the elders, talking about rogues. They weren't anything big, just a fresh group of rogues that were banished for something due to the elders. They wanted revenge and they almost got it. That's until I showed up. One look at me and they got on their knees, balling their eyes out. If you ask me, those kids couldn't hurt a ant even if they were forced to. So as you can see, the elders are a bunch of weak vampires.

They're still the elders, because no one else wants to be. It's so boring and really too much responsibility. All they really do is sit in some deserted house and judge every other vampire from the inside. Where almost no one can get to them. Well, that's until now. Those stupid rouges found them almost immediately. You know when I said they couldn't hurt a ant even if they tried? Well I was wrong!

I remember one of the elders saying that two of their own was killed and one of those rogues did it. I particularly don't care for the elders. One reason why, is that they killed my best friend. She was a human and one day she found out everything. She found out about me, my parents, the elders, what we are and so much more. My dad started to hate her from the day she found out and every other human to this day. He says humans blab too much and can get us killed.

She never uttered a word, yet someone accused her of doing so. The elders killed her right in front of me and buried her body near a river. That very day, they threw a festival as if nothing had ever happened. Like the killing of my best friend hadn't just happened. I showed no emotion and avoided everyone I knew. Honestly, what would be said? The answer, I don't know.

I'm in the elders office right now, hearing them talk about who's going to replace the two dead elders. I'd rather be with Titan right now. It's only been two days, but i'm going crazy over not being able to see him. Without knowing it, my eyes turn vibrant blue and my fangs come out. That seemed to happen almost every time I thought about him.

"Amaria, what's wrong dear?" my mom asks me, pretending that she cares.

"Nothing, it seems to happen every time I think about Titan" I let it slip and sigh in defeat afterwards. All eyes are on me now. What is it now?

"You said it happens every time you think about him?"

I nod.

"Does it happen when you're near him too?"

"I mean- yeah. I control it though, he hasn't seen anything."

My mom smiles and my dad looks at me almost proudly. I can tell that them and the elders are having a silent conversation. Okay this is getting weird. What's wrong with them?

"Honey..we've never told you this, but vampires can have mates.." she trails off.

"We think you may have found yours" my dad finishes for her.

"Mates? I thought only werewolves have mates."

"That is true they do have mates, but so do us vampires. You see me and your dads are mates, we found each other when we were both 19."

19?

"I'm not 19 though, so how can I feel that he's my mate?" this is all so confusing.

"You usually feel your mate when you turn 18, sometimes earlier than that if the bond is really strong" guess that explains it. If Titan is my mate, can he feel this bond? He's only 17, but I wonder.

"How old is this Titan?"

"17."

"Oh! So he might not feel the bond right now. You should bring him over for dinner one of these days" I snort at the idea. As if that'll ever happen. Not. My mother frowns and for a second, I forgot they were even there.

"Sorry.." not. My parents don't even know that Titan is human. Neither do the elders. Do I plan on telling them? Hell no. They're not going to do to him what they did to my best friend. If they tried I'll fight for him. Yeah, this time i'll fight. Not for me, but for him. Whatever it takes.

"So, you'll bring him over then?"

"Sure mom. Can I go now?"

"Why are you in such a hurry?"

"I haven't seen Titan in two days. He's probably worried about me and I want to go see him" I tell her, honestly. She smiles again and shoos me away. About fucking time. I race out of the room and out of the house. It may take longer than usual, but i'll get to him.

It takes me 10 minutes to reach his house. I smile and look up, seeing his window open. I'd like to avoid his mom, even if I love her baking. She may be upset at me as well. It's just a strong feeling. Making sure no one is looking, I go to the side of Titans house and climb up, using all the upper body strength that I have.

Hopefully no one thinks i'm a burglar seeing as its dark out and i'm climbing through a window. Whatever.

I make it through his window and fall onto the floor. Looking around, Titan isn't in his room, but the shower is running so maybe he's taking a shower. If not him, then it's his mom. Let's hope it's him. To pass time by, I grab a notebook that's set on his table and a perfectly sharpened pencil. Getting comfortable on his bed, I start to sketch out his face. I'm about five minutes in when a door opens and Titan screeches like a little girl.

"Mom- wait Amaria?" he starts to yell, but stops.

"Hey" I say waving. Hey? That's all I could say right now? Finding out he's my mate is doing some stuff to me. Seriously.

"Titan are you okay?" his mom yells up to him.

"Yes i'm fine" he says and closes the door behind him.

"So I was sketching-" I start but get cut off.

"Where have you been? You've been ignoring me for two days! No call back, no voicemail, not texts. Nothing! Did you decide that you're finally tired of me?" he asks, his voice cracking at the end. How could he even think that? There's no way I could get tired of him. Not in a million years. Not in a billion.

"I knew you'd get tired of me. Everyone does and.." at this point he's just ranting and letting all of his insecurities get to him. I walk up to him as he continues and stop right in front of him. He stops midway and looks up at me.

"Are you done?" I whisper.

He nods.

"Good. Now let me tell you.." I cup his cheeks and pull his face closer to mine.

"I'll never get tired of you my little warrior. Never. I'm sorry for ignoring you but my phone got broken when I was helping my grandma the other day. I've been meaning to see you but got caught up. I wasn't ignoring you. You're too precious to ignore" I continue to whisper as I stare down at him, my face expression soft and my words true.

"You mean that?"

"Yeah..I do" I lean down to kiss him when a knock interrupts me. Thank god. What am I doing??

"Titan? I'm coming in, please have clothes on."

I back away from him and sit back on his bed, putting the notebook back on my lap. His mom walks in as Titan pulls on a pair of joggers and doesn't bother to put on a shirt. The tattoo I gave him is visible and it still looks pretty good. Man, i'm good.

"Ti- oh Amaria? You're here..?" she sounds so surprised.

"Yep. Hi Rosie" I wave at her, like I waved to Titan. She looks to him for an answer, but he just blushes and looks away. That seems to satisfy her and she looks at me with a gigantic smile.

"I've baked a lemon cake. Would you like some?" her baking, oh how i've missed her baking. Titan too of course.

"Yes please" I shoot up from my spot and follow her. When I pass Titan, I kiss his cheek and tell him to hurry down or i'll eat the cake by myself. His mom might've saw, because she's smiling so big i'm afraid her face might split in half.

"You guys are not just friends" she mumbles, happily.

You're absolutely right, Rosie. We're mates.

Mates.
