I screamed, thrashed, did everything I could to break free-but his grip was like iron. He threw me over his shoulder like I weighed nothing, dragging me back to my prison as if my attempt to escape had been nothing more than an inconvenience.

"Let me go!" I yelled, pounding against his back.

He didn't say a word. He didn't need to.

When we reached the room, he kicked the door open and tossed me onto the bed. My body bounced against the mattress, and before I could react, he was on me, pinning me down with one hand wrapped tightly around my wrist. His breathing was harsh, his chest rising and falling rapidly as he stared at me with something dark, unreadable.

I refused to look away. I wouldn't give him the satisfaction.

"You really don't know when to quit, do you?" His voice was low, dangerous.

I glared. "I'm not your fucking pet. Of course I'll fight back."

His grip tightened for a second before he let out a short laugh, shaking his head. "You're something else, Lisa."

I jerked against his hold. "Why? Why are you doing this? What the hell do you even want from me?"

His eyes flickered with something I couldn't quite place. Amusement? Annoyance? Pity?

And then he said it-the words that shattered the last illusion I had left.

"Your parents sold you to me."

Everything inside me went still.

I stared at him, waiting for him to take it back. To say he was lying. But he didn't.

The world felt like it was tilting beneath me. My breath caught in my throat. "No... you're lying."

"Am I?" He sat back slightly, still keeping me pinned but giving me enough space to see the truth in his expression. "You think I just took you for fun? No, sweetheart. You were
given to me."

I shook my head, refusing to believe it. My parents-no matter how cold, how distant they had been-they wouldn't...

Would they?

He must have seen the crack in my composure because he smirked. "Took the money without hesitation. Signed the papers. They didn't even look back."

A hollow laugh escaped my lips. "And you expect me to believe that?"

He shrugged. "Believe what you want. Doesn't change the truth."

The weight of his words pressed down on me, suffocating.

They really did it.

They sold me.

Like I was nothing.
