Chapter 15

"Dude wake up!" Butch yelled into Mitch's window as he carried Buttercup who was still unconscious.

Mitch groans not fully aware of why Butch is at his home in the evening, "Dude what do you want? Dude, what did you do?" He expressed as he saw Butch with Buttercup in her arms.

"I didn't do anything!" Butch expressed as he went inside his home.

"So why does she look like she got hit by bolder?" Mitch expressed.

"She technically did," Butch explains trying not to give out information to Mitch as he set her down, "But I didn't do it."

"Why didn't you just take her to her place?" Mitch asked in confusion.

"Her sisters would kill me before I said a word," Butch argues as watches her sleep.

"And your place?" Mitch asked.

"They would blame me before I can explain," Butch states.

"Sounds about right. So what happens?" Mitch asked.

"Wait, so you don't blame me?" Butch asked as he would assume that Mitch would call him out for hurting her.

"You can barely put a finger on her," Mitch scoff, "You expect me to believe you gave her thrown down when you can barely catch up."

Butch's eye furrowed to glare at him for his remark, "I could too!"

"So what happened then?" Mitch asked.

"Dude I don't even know. I saw her ditch at school so I followed her, next thing I knew she was at Monster Island!"

"Monster Island?!" Mitch expressed in shock as it is the most secluded isle full of criminals, "Why was she there?"

"We have to ask her, by the time I got to her she was out," Butch says as he started to approach her to wake her up.

"Uh," Mitch started to speak as he watches Butch about to touch her shoulder.

"What?" Butch asked pausing himself, "Should we wait for her to wake up?"

Mitch was going to stop him but after being woken up from his nap, an idea pop into his head. Mitch gave a Chesire smile then changed his expression to be more concerning, "No you should wake her."

Butch nodded as he places his hand on her shoulder to wake her up, "B..."

On reflex, she wakes up to slugs him in the face, "Ugh!"

"Ow!" He falls-backward into the floor in pain causing Mitch to laugh hysterically.

Butch rises shocked, apologizing, "Sorry, I thought you were some ..." She looked to see it was Butch, "Oh! It's you. Well, that's okay then."

"It's good to see your punch hasn't softened," Butch groans as he got rubbing nose to make sure it's not broken.

Buttercup huffed as she was not happy to see him, "That's what you get for following me."

"So what do I get for saving you?"

Buttercup frowned knowing he was right as she looked at her fist, "I didn't ask for saving."

"B what happened?" Mitch asked as he knew Buttercup wasn't going to give any answers to him.

"Look I got it, "Buttercup reassured him, "How much he told you?"

"Enough," Mitch responded, "But still pretty clueless. Why were you at the Isle?"

"It's none of your concern," Buttercup responds as she weakly got up from the bed, "Thanks for the crash. Can I keep your word?"

She extends her hand for a fist pump which he responded back to fist pump back, "You got it B."

"So your not going to ask her?" Butch asked as Mitch was helping her out.

"Butch thanks for the save but it's not your concern," Buttercup responded.

"Man, she isn't going to tell you, so just drop it," Mitch sided with her.

"Fine, then I better ask her family myself," Butch respond knowing he was going to touch a nerve.

Buttercup clenches her fist and quickly went up to face him, "If you know what's good for you, your going to keep your mouth shut."

"I'm not afraid of you. You Shadow freak!"

Instead of hitting a nerve to make her angry those words hurt. She nodded her head in frustration and sadness as she then flew out of Mitch's room. 

At the moment Butch finally figured it out as watched her shadows follow her, "I know what's wrong."

"What?" Mitch asked in bewilderment at what was happening.

"Buttercup!" Butch yelled out as he started to go after her by flying out the window.

"Get lost!" Buttercup says as she gently flew her way home not really attempting to fly away in a hurry.

"Buttercup look I'm sorry," Butch apologized.

"Look I can't get angry, just leave me alone," Buttercup says.

"Or you lose control?" Butch states which caused Buttercup to pause mid-flight, "That's why you were at the Isle to let your guard down and lose control."

Buttercup glared at him in a fighting position as her eyes glowed, "I am controlling them."

"Beating out monsters to control your powers is not working," Butch states angrily with cross arms as he looked at her and notices how much she want to put up her walls.

Buttercup's lips trembled, "You don't know what you're talking about Butch. You don't know what's wrong with me. In fact, nothing's wrong because I have everything under control." 

"I won't tell them if you let me help you," Butch states hoping that she would understand that he doesn't want to be the enemy.

"How can you help? Aren't I a freak," Buttercup scoffed in disbelief at what he was saying as anger filled her heart from frustration.

"I can help," Butch promised as they landed down at a park, "Meet me here tomorrow."

Buttercup's eyes rolled in annoyance, "What's the catch? How do I know you're going to help me? You don't even know what my powers are?"

"It doesn't matter, because your power isn't the problem," Butch explained.

"What?" Buttercup states looking at him as if he was crazy.

Butch sighed as he looked at her sincerely, "I'll explain tomorrow. Meet me here tomorrow. If I can't help you can go back to beating up monsters and I won't tell another soul."

Buttercup gave a slight glare of distrust towards him. But she didn't have a choice as this was the only way for her sisters to find out what is going on, "Fine." She replies shaking her head in agreement.

"Sorry if it was partially my fault you exploded today," Butch tries to apologize as he was watching her float up.

She gave a slight smirk, "Don't worry you are a dumb Rowdy Ruff."

"Catch ya later puff," Butch saluted as he watches her make her way home.
