Chap 3: Change of Life

They have been sitting at the Kudos library for almost 3 hours with doing nothing specific. Shinichi just lay on his desk reading mystery novel while Kaito do some magic trick to entertain himself while staring at Shinichi that tried to avoid him with showing that his busy. Unfortunately, Kaito can't take it anymore and start to break the awkwardness. "Alright I'm boring. Let's go outside and go somewhere to eat or something."

Shinichi just look at him slightly from his book and back to his reading. "If you hungry I can make something. But I'm really don't want to go outside right now." Kaito look at him strangely and replied back "Why not? You can't always stuck in here. You need fresh air." Shinichi look at him again and cover his face with his book. "Because everywhere I go, someone died. Everytime I go outside, always involved with the case. Just like the rumours said I had been followed by Shinigami. Your were lucky because yourself get ladyluck in your side." Kaito hear that, he frown.

He don't know what to say, because he never saw it Shinichi always stumbled with the death. But he has to brought Shinichi out of this haunted house for some relaxation and refreshing air for a bit. "Shinichi, it's gonna be alright. If I'm with you maybe lady luck will give you a break for awhile?" Shinichi look at him and sigh and than close his book. "Alright if it didn't work, don't complain about it." Kaito beamed for it.

"Maybe I should take a shower though. What about you?" ask Shinichi while he getting up from his seat. Kaito look at him then struggle "I just go with it," Shinichi nod and heading to his room.

After Shinichi close the door, Kaito just keep thinking how should he confront Shinichi to talk to him. Shinichi look almost fragile and very delicate but don't seem arrogant to him, just like the rumors said to him. While he still feeling awkward when Kaito was around. Kaito can feel it that Shinichi always avoid to meet eyes with him like he want to say something but he couldn't. Something stop him to do that, something really important.

While Kaito were still thinking, Shinichi at the shower also thinking what should he do with this new development. 'Pandora can you tell me about this new development about it. I really don't want Kaito and everyone else to find out about it' 'Hm... First, what do want to learn?' Shinichi thinking what should he learn first. 'Teach how to control my desire of blood. I really don't want to lost control when we strumble from death when we get out.' Pandora start explain what should he do and what should he have to be careful about. Shinichi listen carefully what Pandora had to explain. 'Remember what just I said earlier. If you didn't be careful, it will get us trouble.' warn Pandora to Shinichi again. 'I remember that I also don't want everyone to find out especially Kaito' Pandora nod and start to ask something that she really want to ask about it.

'Shinichi, If he find out what should you do?' Shinichi don't know how to answer it. He really can't image if Kaito find out what he gonna do. Is he will hate him? Is he will scare of him? Is he don't want to see him again? He really don't want to thing about it. He also scare to lose him. He really hope that it's not gonna happen.

Time skip 4 days later...
Kaito pov

It been 4 days after he met Shinichi. He start to hang out with Shinichi after school. He found that Shinichi was fun to be with. He also know what he like, what he dislike, what he always do, what his habit everyday and he also enjoy the challenge with Shinichi. He like challenge so he felt Shinichi was a challenge to him. He surprisely knew that Shinichi also can do magic trick. When Kaito show him some magic trick, he figure it out and try to copy it. Kaito was surprise that he can do does trick easily while Kaito had to practice many time to master it.

Today Shinichi will come over to his house because he want to show something too him. After the bell rang, signaling that school is over, Kaito start to packing his stuff. Suddenly the broom stick hitting his desk make him jump and look at the source of sudden abused. "A-Ahoko, what the heck was that for?" said him stutted while Aoko look at him furiously "That's was the thing Aoko want to know, what the heck wrong with you? You start to distance from Aoko. Aoko feel like we don't hang out anymore after you got absence 4 days ago. You can't get off with it."

Kaito knew he hasn't hang out with Aoko anymore after the encounter with Shinichi. Shinichi is more fun to hang out with rather he accompanied Aoko from groceries or shopping. He start to open his mouth when suddenly they hear the noise of crowded student in front the school gate and start to checkout what is it. Kaito saw that the figure that he recornize getting surrounded. Kaito smile and look back at Aoko. "If you really want to know, come with me."

They start to heading at the crowded and see the person getting uncomfortable with the surrounding. Kaito hurry his pace start to go too the person. "Shinichi, what are you doing here? I thought our meeting at 6:30 p.m. We still have two hours left." Shinichi just struggle and answer back. "I just thought that we can go groceries together for tonight dinner and straight heading to your house. That's why I waiting for you at school." Kaito don't know why but he feel happy someone willingly to wait and make a dinner for him. After 4 days always hanging out with Shinichi, he always stay there until dinner, he get to know one thing about Shinichi. Shinichi's cooking is much more better than Aoko. Not only his cooking, his baking skill also was the best. If Shinichi haven't the thing that always stumbling death, he suggest that Shinichi can open the cafe.

"Aw... Shin-chan your the best. I miss your cook so much." said Kaito while hugging Shinichi in front of everyone. "Don't call me that and also you already ate last night," exclaim Shinichi while Kaito chuckle for refusing to call him that. "Yeah but I want to eat your cooking every single time. Breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. I also miss your homemade dessert thought. Especially your choco cheese cake." confess him while drooling at the sight of Shinichi's dessert resipe.

Shinichi blush a little hearing the praise from Kaito. "If you keep it like that, you will get fat and your teeth will get cavity thought. But if you really like it, should I move in with you?" the question make Kaito and everyone in front the school gate include Aoko and trailing Hakuba in shock.

"That not what I mean, but are you sure?" that make Shinichi smirk. "I'm just kidding thought, why I have to be your housemaid just for you can eat my cooking? And also for the way you look, it's looks like you always pranking your schoolmates, so I don't want to suffer my school life with your prank. No offence. So I'm pass." said Shinichi bluntly. "I'm hurt Shin-chan. My prank it's not that bad." said Kaito while holding chest dramatically. Shinichi just roll his eyes to him for being so dramatic.

Aoko feel like she has to break this drama, she clear her throat. "So Kaito, you know him?" ask Aoko curiously. Kaito grinning at her and he's schoolmates. "Let me introduce you guys. He's Kudo Shinichi, my childhood friend and playmate." Aoko blinked, she don't know Kaito has another childhood friend beside her so she ask back. "Aoko don't know Kaito has another childhood friend?" This time it's Shinichi answer.

"We barely met because our parent is too busy for set up. So we're not really get in touch for each other for 8 years after we bumped into each other 4 days ago." lied Shinichi. Kaito knew their had to lie to them. Because they didn't want their secret discovered.

Aoko blink at him "Oh, nice to meet you Kudo-kun. My name Nakamori Aoko, one of Kaito childhood friend." Introduce Aoko smile at him. "Kudo Shinichi, high school detective. Nice to meet you too Nakamori-san." greet Shinichi back with his smile genuinely at her. Aoko look at Shinichi carefully and look back at Kaito, she saw the resembles from the two.

Kaito look at Aoko strange, "What's wrong Aoko? "Ask him curiously with the look she give from him and Shinichi. "You two look similar to each other." Kaito blinked at the remark and the two look at each other. When he look at it carefully they really look the same, like Shinichi was his long lost twin.

Then he got an ideas for his next prank, he evil smirk came to his face make everyone that crowds in there shived except Shinichi. Because he already used too this face, the face the magician plan something not good so he just brush it off or ignore it. "Alright Kaito, it's getting late. So let's go." said Shinichi breaking the intense tension and he walk away leaving Kaito that still grinning maniacally.
