My throat felt dry and cut. I looked at the nurse as she adjusted my IV and pressed her pager for the doctor. A team of doctors rush in.
"How long has she been awake?" Someone asks.
The nurse responds "about 5 minutes"
The doctor leans in my face, I squint my eyes as he shines a light in both of my eyes and proceeds to pinch me to see if I feel it.
"I'm honestly surprised by her condition. There's worse. (Y/N) blink once if you understand where you are and whats going on"
I blink and smile. Another twinge of pain shoots up my back and I flinch.
"You have a couple of screws in your back, the car accident displaced a disk. It almost paralyzed you."
"A...acci..dent?"
The doctors and nurses buzzing around had me anxious and stressed. I just wanted to sleep but the lights wouldn't let me and nor would the doctors. Lights were shown in my eyes every thirty minutes and they kept telling me I may slip back into a coma.
I hear them in the hall say they called my husband and that he said not to let me know he was coming in case it stressed me out. I kept trying to figure out who they were talking about. My memory and mind hazy and frazzled from the concussion.
Matthew. Yung Gravy. My memory was flowing in and out. The last few weeks seemed so unreal and pretty much a dream.
They push the last of my medicine through my IV for me to go to sleep. A nurse brushes my blood stained hair from my face. "Matt...."
......................................................................
"She's okay though right?"
"I can't guarantee she'll completely remember you. She reconizes objects and voices, her short term memory is fine.....there's a possibility she may have lost a few months of memory though."
Conversation between two people wake me up. I had no idea how long I had been asleep as I open my eyes.
The doctor pulls out his flashlight again and shines it in my eyes. I lift my hand slowly to attempt to swat his hand away. The guy beside him pushes my hand down.
"Dont be sassy baby" I look up. A smile appears on Matthew's face. "I'm glad you're awake. Sheesh you scared me"
I tilt my head and open my mouth to talk, but all that comes out is a whisper. "Matthew? I'm still really confused. All these memories I have have holes in them...."
"You remember me at least. Do you remember what happened?"
"..no"
I look at him. Everything hurt and I began to choke back tears as fear filled my mind. I hated the feeling of not understanding and not remembering.
He lays his hand on mine as the doctor excuses himself from the room. "I can explain (y/n), but you probably should try to eat. They said you can have milkshakes so I can get one and make sure its smooth like gravy kay?"
I nod. "Can....you explain now... I can order it....?"
He takes a deep breath and begins to explain. It hurt that Jessica, a friend, someone I trusted, would do such a selfish and terrible thing. You may not feel the same, but I wouldn't wish death like that on anyone. I can only hope it was as quick as I was told.
I felt physically sick as I drank my milkshake a little too fast. I hit the call light shakily as Matthew brushes my hair back and ties it into a sloppily put together ponytail.
The nurses sit me up a little more and I start to sob as my back feels like its tearing in half and so does my leg. The nurse come in.
"Sir, we're going to give her some medicine for the nausea and morphine for the pain."
"O..okay? Is it okay to stick around?"
"Sure!"
.............Two Weeks later........
He told me he'd come back for a moment from tour as soon as possible. He also set me up at his home, despite my protests. I desperately wanted to walk on my own but he said he would "Take care of it"
"But Matthew....I don't need maids. "
"Nah Shawty....if you're going to relax, you're relaxing at my house."
I pout. "Matt....I still have to work. I still have mixes to do."
He gets in my face, our noses touch "do it when you're better than where you're at now...I promise it'll be fine, and you'd made plenty beforehand, I have been rotating through them just fine!"
I nod as the nurses grab my belongings. "We've already sent medical records to LA. Its all ready to go and your medical transport is outside."
"After you m'lady" he waves the nurses in front of him as they giggle. I roll my eyes. Im doomed to the most flirtatious man.
Wouldn't have it any other way.
(Sorry! I had surgery on Monday! I'm still healing! But here you go! Thanks for sticking with me!)
