"Aly, Perfect attendance award lang ang meron, baka akala mo may early bird award din?" Salubong ni Thana sa akin.
I watch her as she hangs her bag at the back of her chair.
"Maaga ka rin naman." Sagot ko at tiningnan ang oras.
"Pero mas maaga ka parin." She said mischievously, hindi nagpapatalo. "Breakfast?"
"Kumain na ako, pero sige, bibili na rin ako ng coffee."
We went to a nearby fast-food chain at nag-take out ng pagkain para sa pantry nalang kainin.
Inside the pantry, Myles was there alone eating her breakfast too.
"Anong meron? Bakit ang aga mo?" Tanong agad ni Thana sa kanya.
"Meeting. That's why." Myles simply answered.
"Right. Where are the others?" Thana asked while unpacking her order.
Myles just shrugged while my eyes widened a fraction. "You guys are part of the team?"
"Yep, we're gonna work together and the better news is that Jess, Carl and Jay are all gonna be in the team too." She cheerfully said at napalakas pa ang boses.
"Don't say it that way, Thana." Sabi ni Myles. "Kapag ikaw, narinig ng iba they'd think you're implying that you don't like working with some other people here at the office."
Thana rolled her eyes. "Come on, Myles. Let's be realistic, we all know that as nice as your colleagues are, meron parin yang iilan na hindi mo makakasundo lalo na kapag work ang pinag-uusapan. Based on experience, some people are really nice... but when it comes to working with them, iba sila or parang magkaiba kayo kaya mahirap pakisamahan."
I silently sipped on my coffee while watching Thana that is unstoppable while Myles is shaking her head.
"I don't have the power to decide which of my colleagues are going to work with me in a project but when moments like this that all those who were chosen are people that I go along with, I rejoice. It's really a rare thing." Thana continued.
"Okay!" Myles said in a surrendering tone. "Mapapahamak talaga tayo sa bluntness mo isang araw. Ayaw ko ng office wars, Thana. Pero kung may mang-aaway sayo, hinahanda ko na sarili ko para sa laban kung sakali."
Natawa ako sa sinabi niya at pabiro namang umirap si Thana.
"Office wars? That's too dramatic, Myles. You're like a mom that always nags... you know?"
Si Myles naman ang umirap ngayon. "Whatever. Aly, wag ka magpapa-influence dito. Magkatabi pa naman kayo ng table."
I only chuckled as an answer.
"Hindi ma-iinfluence yan sa sobrang bait." Umiiling na sabi ni Thana.
"On second thought, I think you should learn a bit of fierceness from Thana."
I really too kind that the people close to me are saying it's too much?
"I accept favors because I know that I can do something about it." I explained.
"That doesn't mean you have to accept all favors kahit na kaya mo. Paano kung inaabuso na pala ang paghingi ng favor sayo?" Thana said while tilting her head.
"You are not a superhero, Aly. You are a human being that gets tired too." Myles added.
Hindi ko alam kung bakit ang deep ng topic namin early morning but these girls are so real. They don't sugarcoat things.
