Hello Arahabaki speaking 'Hello' Arahabaki thinking or the name of a cursed technique. "Hello" Sukuna speaking. 'Hello' thoughts Hello Ryuu speaking to Arahabaki mentally. ----------------------------
The school day passed as it always did for the Itadori brothers. The youngest attended classes and conversed with his friends as he usually did while the eldest spent the day coaching Gym class, assisting other teachers and inhaling copious amounts of coffee.
Really the hot beverage was the only thing that kept Ryuu going throughout the day.
Hours later the final bell rang signalling the end of the school day. Students raced out of their classrooms and either off the school grounds and to their homes or to one of the many clubs held in the school. Yuji Itadori was one of many that are part of these clubs. He was a member of the Occult Club, a club dedicated to proving the existence of supernatural entities.
If only they knew what was right under their noses.
Ryuu found himself supervising a sports club after the original supervisor had dragged him from the teachers' lounge where he had been happily sipping at his ninth cup of coffee. Coach Takagi had been muttering something about challenging Yuji to a competition if he refused to join track and field. Ryuu sighed knowing that Yuji wouldn't change his mind and that due to the young man's physical prowess Takagi would be beaten easily.
True to his word, five minutes later Takagi arrived at the pitch with his brother and as predicted thrashed the coach. Ryuu sighed as his little brother broke a world record without even trying. Yuji then returned to the club room with his two seniors and the day continued, although not without students commenting about Yuji's incredible strength. It was after all why he was referred to as the 'Tiger of West Middle'. Pretty lame name if Ryuu was being honest.
Once the youngest's club was over the two brothers met at the entrance of the school and began the rather short walk to the hospital. They stopped for a moment at a nearby flower shop and bought a small bouquet as thanks for the nurses, they do after all have to put up with their grandpa's stubbornness. A bouquet was not nearly enough to thank them, but it would do.
Finally, the pair arrived at the hospital. Upon entering they greeted the nurses and strolled to the room their grandpa was in.
"I told you not to come," was how their grandpa greeted them.
What a rude old man, Arahabaki said to his vessel. That's ironic coming from you, Ryuu was quick to retort before easily tuning out the Gods protests about being old and rude.
"Stop bringing flowers with you all the time," the old man continued.
"They ain't for you Gramps, they're for the nurses," the eldest Itadori replied as Yuji began unwrapping the flowers.
"All the more reason not to, you fool! And what about your club and your job Ryuu. Go to your club! Your work!"
"Chill out," Yuji replied "My club ends before 5pm. We wouldn't be visiting you if we didn't have the free time."
"Good, then listen to me, since I've got free time, too."
"Not interested," Yuji interrupted, walking across the room and filling the vase with water.
"Just listen well. There's something I want to tell you two before the end. It's about your parents," the man continued.
Once again Yuji interrupted "I said I'm not interested. Grandpa, could you stop trying to act all cool before you die?"
"Every man wants to go out in style, you know!" the elder immediately snapped back "Get a clue, you useless grandson!"
"Calm down there old man before you pop a blood vessel," Ryuu quipped noticing how agitated the elder was getting.
"Tsk. Lax upbringing," was the only reply they got as the man laid on his side facing away from the brothers, it was silent for a time before, "Yuji." their Gramps started, "You're a strong kid, so help others. Even if it's only those closest to you, just save the people you can. It's okay if you lose your way, and don't worry about whether they'll thank you or not. Just save as many people as you can, even if it's only one. When you die, you should be surrounded by people," he paused for a moment before continuing "Don't end up like me. And Ryuu... just keep doing your job."
The room was silent after his small speech, the man himself laying still on the bed still facing away from his grandsons.
"Grandpa?" Yuji called out, "Grandpa?"
The man had died. But not before drastically altering the fate of his youngest grandson.
The eldest brother pressed the call button on the receiver and took a moment to compose himself, holding his trembling brother with one arm and holding the phone to his ear with the other. The nurses on the other end calling out worriedly.
"Our grandpa... is dead."
While Yuji packed any belongings of their grandpas into a duffel bag the eldest brother was at the main desk filling in the paperwork necessary. After reassuring the nurse behind the desk that the two would be alright, Ryuu walked over to where his brother was standing.
A soft ringing brought Ryuu's attention to the phone sitting in the pocket of his black jeans. Glancing at his brother -who assured him he would be fine for a minute- Ryuu unlocked the phone and pressed the answer button on the screen. He hadn't even checked the caller ID.
"Hello? Ryuu Itadori speaking."
"Why hello Ryuu! It's Satoru Gojo speaking~," the man on the other end replied teasingly, "I'm in the area and heard the sweets around here are great. Would my wonderful boyfriend like to join me?"
"Um..." Ryuu started, looking at his brother who was giving him a thumbs up. The little shit had been eavesdropping, "Sure, I'm just leaving the hospital now, so I'll see you in about fifteen minutes. Sound good?"
"Sounds great. See you soon~" Satoru replied before hanging up the phone.
After double checking that his brother would be okay Ryuu began the journey to a shopping district to meet up with his lover.
Little did he know but the very moment he left his brother was approached by a young Jujutsu sorcerer asking about a cursed object. The world Ryuu had worked so hard to keep Yuji away from had just been introduced him, and no matter how hard he might try there was no getting him out of it.
