The next morning Denki woke up with a terrible headache. When he opened his eyes it seemed like the sunlight was attacking his eyes with knives. Hitoshi laughed at his antics and laughed harder when Denki shot him a death stare. "Urrrghh i don't want to go to class and face Mina todayyyy." "Why?" Denki suddenly realised Hitoshi knew. "L-look I don't care if you hate me for what I am." A massive lie. "But don't t-tell anyone please...don't abandon me please, I already lost the trust of my closest friend." Denki whispered the last part. Hitoshi grabbed Denki's chin and made him look at him. "I would never abandon you Kams and I don't care that you're gay, you're my friend." Denki smiled, blushed and laid back on his bed. "You're coming to school today and don't forget we're going to your therapy session today." Denki groaned. Although his eyes had adjusted to the light his headache was still making a violent presence. Denki stood up and got some aspirin from the bathroom cupboard. Hitoshi chuckled, "It probably wasn't the best idea to drink a whole bottle of vodka on a school night, was it?" "Ha ha ha no it wasn't." Denki dragged his feet back to the bathroom to shower, he couldn't wait for this day to be over.
Starting off the day with math. Denki loved math. He loved it so much he would barf every time it would come up in a conversation. He loved it so much he would burn his math books and have a party while doing it. Avoiding Mina's apologetic eyes, Denki said some quick hellos to Kiri and Sero (Bakugo couldn't come to class because his hangover was ) and sat down. As he was mentally preparing for the battle of math, the class representative approached him. "Hello fellow classmate, it is good to see you looking better, are you feeling better?" Denki was confused about what Iida was talking about. "Huh?" "Well i noticed about a week ago you were really distant and looked sad but you seem better now, are you?" He was shocked that Iida noticed. "Um y-yeah?" "Good, have a great day. Remember to try your best in class. As Iida returned to his seat he left Denki with his eyes as wide as saucers. He barely noticed Hitoshi sneak into the classroom just after the bell rang. "Did I miss anything?" Denki turned to the purple haired boy sitting next to him. "Iida came up to me and asked me if I was better because I looked sad last week." "See people do care and do notice." Hitoshi ruffled Denki's electric hair which of course made him blush. "Aight now pay attention to the teacher." Denki leaned back on his chair. "Urrrrrrgghhhh."
Time skip to the end of the day.
Denki packed up all his stuff and walked out of the locker room (still changing in a cubicle because ya know, scars). He began overthinking about the therapy session. 'Can I trust that person? They are professional right? What if they judge me? What if Hitoshi realises how useless and stupid i am and leaves?' So wrapped up in his own head he didn't realise Mina was coming towards him. "H-hey Denks." Snapping out of his thoughts Denki looked at the pink girl with unemotional eyes. "Yeah what?" "I'm really sorry for yesterday night and I know I ruined your trust. I was being stupid and carless because i just wanted you to be happy and-" "Well it didn't work, did it? Because i'm definitely not happy. Goodbye Mina, I have somewhere to be." Mina rushed forwards and grabbed Denki's arm in desperation. "Please listen to me Denks, I want us to be friends again. We had a really good friendship and I don't want to let my idiotic mistake ruin it." Denki sighed. "Look, give me some time to think stuff over. I've really gotta go now." Mina gave Denki a weak smile and walked off to the dorms. Denki ran off to his dorm to quickly get changed. Hitoshi was lying on his bed reading his book, already changed. "We are meeting up with Aizawa out the front of UA so if you don't want to be late, you better hurry up." "Sh-should i bring a-anything?" Hitoshi looked up from his book. "Don't be nervous Kami, I'll be there with you the whole time." Denki gave Hitoshi a shaky but thankful smile. He changed into a green day t-shirt with black sweatpants and a black hoodie with yellow lightning bolts on the sleeves. "Lets go."
Aizawa's car sat out the front of UA. When the two boys saw it they quickly ran to it. "Five more minutes and I would have come hunting for you." Aizawa said in his iconic monotone voice. "Yeah yeah, well we're here now." Denki's mind was about to wander out the window with his eyes until Aizawa interrupted. "So Kaminari, you ready for your therapy session?" Denki took a shaky breath, looked at Hitoshi who gave him a small reassuring smile and replied, "As ready as I'll ever be."
Sitting in the therapists lobby, Denki did not feel ready. The therapist would ask him questions that Denki was afraid to answer, then he'd judge him and then make him go to a mental hospital wearing a straight jacket. Denki didn't like the thought of being restrained to the point he couldn't move at all. Unconsciously, Denki began picking at his fingernails until they bled. Seeing the blood, Hitoshi quickly grabbed a tissue and grabbed Denki's hand, soaking up the blood. Denki looked up at Hitoshi's face, taking in all of his features. His deep violet hair, his amethyst eyes, the dark suitcases under his eyes. Hitoshi caught Denki staring and smiled. Denki might be falling in love with this boy. Denki's face lit up like a tomato. "S-sorry." "It's fine, just don't bite your fingernails anymore." Denki looked down at his fingers that were surrounded by tissues. "Oh." Their sort of conversation was interrupted by the receptionist. "Denki Kaminari?" Denki stood up. "Y-yes?" "Doctor O'Riley will see you now." Hitoshi stood up as well and they both walked in the belly of the beast.
"So you must be Kaminari and you're Shinso, Aizawa's kid." The doctor shook Denki's and Hitoshi's hands, "I'm Doctor Alex O'Riley, feel free just to call me doc or whatever nickname you come up with." "O-okay." Hitoshi nodded and Denki shot her a weak smile. "So tell me a bit about yourself Kaminari." I'm uh sixteen," Denki saw a folder sitting on the doctors armrest, "I hate math, um love the breakfast club," 'Is that a file about me?' Denki wondered. "And my brain short circuits when I overuse my quirk..my quirk is electrification, and um I guess that's it." Doctor O'Riley scribbled a few quick notes on her notepad. "Any family?" Denki looked into the doc's eyes for any malice but was only met by kind eyes. "Erm well my-my-my," Denki cursed under his breath, Hitoshi put his hand on Denki's shoulder and gave him a reassuring squeeze. "My mom d-died a long time ago and my dad is in..jail." Thankfully the doc didn't press any further about it. "So UA right?, how are you keeping up with all your classes." Denki was a little surprised at the casualness of the question as he thought the session was going to be more like an interrogation. "Well I'm terrible at math because the numbers fly off the page and don't even get me started about algebra." That made Doctor O'Riley laugh. "My other subjects are below average except for hero studies." "Are your other subjects low because you slack off or because you don't understand it?" Focused on the questions the doc was handing out, Denki didn't notice but he had stopped stuttering. "Some I don't understand but I didn't really have time to do it until I moved into the dorms, which was last weekend." Doctor O'Riley nodded. "So are you on top of your work now?" Denki smiled a small smile. "Pretty much." A comfortable silence filled the air for a couple seconds before the doc continued. "So what made you come to therapy, what do you want to get out of it?" Denki thought about what to say. "Well it was suggested to me and I thought why not. What do i want to get out of it...um...I want to get better." Doctor O'Riley sat back in their seat. "What do you want to get better from?" Denki gulped and put his shaking hand in his hoodie pocket. "I-i want to stop panicking and feeling bad and i want to stop the constant voices in my head and-and I want to stop thinking about my past a-a-and." Denki's arms were shaking now, 'Not now! Calm down you stupid piece of shit!' Denki's vision began to swirl. "Kami just breathe. Breathe with me, ready? In..out..in..out. You're okay Kams, you're safe, you're safe.." Denki was back in the office (and in Hitoshi's arms), he felt immediate guilt. "I'm sorry doc I-" Doctor O'Riley shushed him. "It's okay Kaminari, never apologise for something you can't control." Denki looked into the docs eyes, their lapis eyes looked like they'd seen a lot but their crows feet showed that they'd also seen a lot of happiness. Denki smiled, "Thank you." Denki thanked the doc for their kindness and understanding because it made him feel like one day, he could truly get better. "Ah no need to thank me. Alrighty then, it seems like it's the end of our session. Will I see you again?" Denki nodded. "I have an opening on Friday or is that too early?" "No that's fine." Doctor O'Riley smiled at Denki. "I'll see you on Friday at five then." "Goodbye." Hitoshi and Denki stood up and met Aizawa in the lobby.
