TWENTY-NINE

"christian we got your eggs!" daniel yelled as soon as he opened the front door.

aubrielle followed after with james on her hip, carrying the bag with her swimsuit and candy. daniel had a large box of a donut floatie they had found, a beach ball, and a foam sword.

"i thought you were only getting elle snacks," tyler commented, grabbing some of the stuff daniel held.

"where's my eggs? all I want is my eggs" christian mumbled and walked over to aubrielle, taking the box from her, "I'm trying a new recipe so I'll have you guys try it. elle, when are you leaving?" he asked, but before she could respond he spoke again, "cool. good thing you're staying to try my dish" he held up a thumbs up and made his way to the kitchen.

aubrielle tilted her head at him. once deciding not to question him, she walked over to daniel who had placed the boxes on the couch. she carefully set james on the couch and she wordlessly went to the guest room to clean up a bit and putting her snacks in her bag that she claimed she'll save for a movie night.

she came back and she paused before walking to on of the seavey brothers. she admired how happy christian looked in the kitchen, and how excited he was for the others to try his new recipe. she admired tyler who curiously looked at all the boxes daniel had bought from target. finally she admired daniel who walked around the table with james. james had his arms over his head and held onto daniel while they slowly walked around.

"oh! you know what would be cool, if I brought out the speakers" tyler excitedly commented.

"ooo yeah!" daniel shortly agreed before grabbing james and pulling him up to his chest. he smiled at the toddler in his arms before holding him in the air and spinning the both of them. aubrielle winced at the small stumble daniel took but nevertheless smiled at the bond they so easily held.

"elle, does this mean you're staying?" tyler asked, quickly turning his head to aubrielle. she nodded her head in response before he spoke again, "nice, i have a gift for you!" he dropped the box he held onto the couch and quickly ran past aubrielle and into his bedroom before she could say he didn't have to. "it's not much and i also don't know if you're doing a baby shower, but congratulations" he rambled, giving the girl a hug before handing her a white box.

"how did you k-"

"daniel told me, and the day after my mom did so there wasn't anything going around it" tyler explained before aubrielle could finish her sentence. he gestured the girl to the couch and sat down next to her, and patiently waited for her to open a box. daniel held james and looked between aubrielle and tyler curiously, he didn't know he had a gift for her. while christian was still at the kitchen but taking glances in their direction.

"thank you," aubrielle quietly said before opening the white box. there were two red bibs and they stated, 'thing one', and 'thing two'. something aubrielle was amused at and laughed in response. then there was a small picture frame of both daniel and aubrielle which she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion at. daniel was in the middle and he wore grey sweatpants and a white hoodie, a water bottle in his left hand. aubrielle stood at his side, but her right-side profile showed unlike daniel's position, she wore grey and black patched sweatpants paired with a sports bra. there was maybe a foot distance between them but at first glance the photo seemed like they had given each other a side hug. the scenery of the photo reminded aubrielle that they were on a hike, except she didn't know which one because she never asked anyone to take a picture of her.
