"I will do everything for my children....every single thing. They'll never know pain."

*~*~*~*~*

The candle burnt dimly,
As the nanny walked past the doors,
She could hear the children sleeping,
There's nothing more she could wish for.

She peeped out of the window,
and saw the moon light up,
The night lit up in a starry glow,
As she picked her coffee cup.

She hummed out to the empty halls ,
"Hush my children sleep in peace.."
Her shadow danced on the walls,
As the wind rustled through the trees.

The house was deathly silent ,
When the nanny sipped her drink,
Her eyes flew up to the one picture,
That made her heart sink.

A couple oh so lovingly ,
Held each  in their arms,
Three babies smiling happily,
The couple entranced by their charms.

She hummed out to the picture,
"Children your parents are right here.."
Her eyes grew glossy as she closed her eyes,
"They love you, don't ever fear..."

The children with their gas masks on ,
Slept quietly and in peace,
As the soldiers rolled in a gas bomb,
And it exploded with a quiet hiss.

The nanny took her last breaths,
Feeling darkness envelope her,
Her eyes flew to the safe children's door,
Their safety was all she wished for.

She hummed one last time to the empty halls,
"Hush my children sleep in peace.."
Her shadow danced on the walls,
As the wind rustled through the trees.
