After begging the God of War, Ares, in a battle against barbarians to avoid defeat, Ares listened and bounded a pair of curved, chained blades to his forearms to physically represent Kratos' servitude to the god of war.
Junko: This didn't exactly turn out too great as Ares ended up tricking Kratos into slaughtering his family. And now he has the white ashes of his wife and daughter bound to his skin. This is the event that lead him on his path to killing all the gods!
Akame: Along the way, Kratos has gotten multiple weapons. With his most notable ones being the Blades of Chaos.
