petals

The petals were folding over on itself,
I watered it everyday
And put it near sunlight so it could grow
Big and strong,
So why did the petals turn brown?
Why did they shrink?
I did everything right,
Right?
A flowers life is beautiful,
But just like everything else
It comes to an end,
Death is inevitable,
As well as watching the petals
Slowly fall down one by one,
They no longer needed the water I once provided
Or the sun that gave it life
So why do people keep watering dead plants?
Why do they think they can save it every time,
When the petals are already fragile
And have already fallen off the stem?
Maybe because they are determined
To keep something in their life alive,
Just to make them feel as if
They are doing something right for once,
Those flowers were their only hope,
But those beautiful colored petals
And that floral smell
Can give false hope to those who believe
Things will never die.
