nini felt a pain in her entire body as she opened her eyes weakly, the numbing pain preventing her from being able to move as she looked around the dark, unfamiliar place that surrounded her
she heard a soft snore from nearby and looked to the right to see a head of curly-hair laying on the space next to her, his eyes closed as they fluttered with every breath he took
"r-ricky?" she whispers, tapping him on the shoulder "ricky-"
the boy slowly opened his eyes and lifted his head quickly when he saw nini awake
"you're awake." he breathes in relief, rubbing his hands over his face in exhaustion before taking her hand "are you okay? anything that hurts badly?"
she shook her head quietly "just a bit of pain..." she replies "w-what happened?"
"you fell and fainted from exhaustion when we opened the oblivion." he explains quietly
nini opened her mouth "i-is everyone-?"
he nodded "everyone's safe. jack and elena are in the other room asleep and everyone else is at home."
"you look tired." she tells him
he shrugged his shoulders "i'm okay."
she moved over, wincing slightly before patting the space next to her
"you need to be comfortable and get some rest nini," he reminds her quietly
"i haven't properly seen you in ages," she tells him "it's always fighting or running from and to the fight."
he chuckles lightly and takes a deep breath as he sits down in the space next to her, laying back as she leaned her head against his shoulder and he wrapped his arms around her.
"i keep thinking of the first time i saw you." she says out of the blue
a small smile appeared on his face when he remembers seeing hers for the first time in the moonlight that one night in her neighborhood. he was someone so different back then. but he changed for the better all because of her. he was glad that she had such an effect on him.
"me too." he replies
she smiled to herself as they stayed in their position, the both of them still awake as he leaned his chin on top of her head and she moved hers to rest on his chest, feeling his steady heartbeat.
"i love you." she whispers
ricky's grin widened, lifting his head up from hers making her look up at him
"what?" she asks with a nervous chuckle
he shakes his head "i love you too."
nini felt her heart flutter and he pressed a kiss to her forehead before she rested her head on his chest once more, the both of them soon falling asleep; everything peaceful, quiet and right.

the next few days consisted of nini getting better and stronger; everyone going to school again as salt lake city was now officially unified; one whole community.
nini moved in with jack and elena, spending some proper time with her family and getting to know them better once again. it felt great to have her parents back and they all couldn't be happier to be together again.
ricky moved in with ej and his family, finally finding one of his own where he accepted him for who he was. he was glad of the person he was now.
ricky and nini of course, were two people who couldn't be separated or taken away from each other. they spent their free times together; they would partner up at training; they would study together: they were each other's person and no one doubted that their connection was undeniable
