Chapter 13- Burning Buildings

After hearing that her apartment is on fire Harper is starting to panic. She suits up and gets into the back of squad sitting next to Capp. When they approach Harper's apartment building Harper quickly notices that her window is up in flames.
"This can't be happening" Harper whispers to herself
"Squad we will take the top floor" Kelly says
"Truck we will take the bottom" Casey says. You all mask up and head inside. The bottom floor isn't as bad as the top. Squad then make their way upstairs.
"Capp, Tony take the Left side, me and Bailey will take the right side" Kelly says
"On it Luitenent" Capp answers. They both take their separate ways. Kelly is kicking down doors to see if he can recover any victims. Harper then comes to her apartment door and kicks it open. She steps inside and nearly everything is on flames. She stands there for a minute with tears streaming down her face. Meanwhile Chief and ambo are standing outside. Chief ten notices the smoke colour going from grey to black.
"That's it everyone out" Chief says over the radios
"You got it chief" Kelly and Casey both say. Kelly starts to run out but he notices that Harper isn't behind him.
"I swear this girl is gonnna be the death of me" Kelly says running back in to find her. He stops when he notices Harper in her apartment.
"Bailey come on we've gotta get out of here" Kelly says
"I can't leave it, I have no where to go Kelly, All of my pictures are in here, All my pictures of Ellis" Harper says with tears streaming down her face
"Hey Bailey look at me! Your gonna be fine! You will find a place to stay now come with me" Kelly's says holding out an arm. Harper then grabs Kelly's arm and they both run out. After the run out 81 starts to put some hoses on the blaze. Harper then falls into Kelly's arms.
"I've lost him Kelly, all the pictures that was the last thing I had of him and now he's actually gone. I'll never see his face again" Harper cries out
"Hey! Shhh shhh it's okay I'm right here" Kelly says stroking her hair
"His jacket was in there too, His firefighting jacket. I have no where to go" Harper says her breathing starting to get out of control
"Harper look at me, deep breaths in and out" Kelly says looking Harper directly in the eyes. Kelly then manages to calm Harper down and they make there way back to 51. Harper hasn't said a word on the way back and runs to her bunk when they arrive back at 51.
"Poor kid" Herrmann says. Kelly then tries to find Harper and he finds her hunched over in her bunk. Harper then looks up as he appears at the bottom of her bunk.
"Sorry about that back there Luitenent, I'll be more professional next time" Harper says fiddling with her hands
"It's all good, look I'm sorry for being a total Jerk these past few days" Kelly says trying to make eye contact with Harper
"It's fine" Harper says coldly
"Now tell me why did you leave Squad 8 in Miami?" Kelly asks
"The Luitenent was a total jerk and thought that girls could never be firefighters especially on squad, One day we went to a house fire and I got trapped and he was the only one in the room. He walked out and said I thought you could handle yourself luckily I got out. Then I went back to being the PIC and then Ellis died and now I'm here" Harper says still fiddling with her hands
"I'm so sorry Harper, I had no idea" Kelly says taking her hands in his
"It's fine, no one ever does" Harper says
"So are we good now?" Kelly asks
"Yeah we're good" Harper responds bringing Kelly into a hug. Moments later Dawson and Casey appear at the door.
"Hey we've been thinking and we thought you could move in with us and Severide?" Dawson asks
"Are you guys sure? I don't want to bother you all" Harper replies
"Yes we have a spear bedroom anyway!" Casey replies
"Okay then yeah I think I will only if it's cool with Kelly" Harper says
"Of course I'm cool with it!" Kelly says
"Then it's settled! You can move in after shift" Casey says
"It will be great to finally have another girl in the apartment, these two are pretty boring all they do is drink beer and watch Tv" Dawson says laughing
"Well your saviour is here!" Harper says laughing
"Lunch is ready!!!" Mouch shouts
"Oh god! Who let Mouch in the kitchen?" Harper cries out. Everyone looks at Casey
"What! I had to give him a chance!" Casey said. Everyone gives him a death stare
"I'll go order pizza!" Casey says walking out
