The trials of Compatibility (pt 3)

I paced back and forth in front of Amelia freaking out before I spoke.
"Who knows what he's going to ask?" I questioned before stopping and turning to look at her. "I mean, I know you, but I do not know you that well."
"And yet we are a couple."
"Fair Amelia, you are the most secretive person I have ever met. I do not know everything about you."
"Well, here's a few fast facts: my favourite movie is Drop Dead Fred...."
"Wait. What is Drop Dead Fred?"
"It's this movie about a girls childhood imaginary friend coming back when she's an adult to help her again. But that's not the....."
"But why does he come back?"
"The why is the whole point of the movie."
"The premise simply does not make sense."
"Emil we do not have time for this."
"Right. Quickly what's something else about you."
"Well I know how to fen....." She began only to get cut off by my father.
"Hi, and welcome back to round two of The Trial of Compatibility." He told as he came back over to us
'Oh dear.'
She quickly wrapped her arm around mine and we both knew this was probably not going to go well.
"Amelia wowed us in round one, now it's the prince's turn to sit in the hot seat, and remember, if he gets that third strike, he is...."
"Going back home!" The guards continued.
"Shouldn't he get three strikes as well so it's fair?" Amelia asked
"Good point. We will discuss this once I return home with or without my son." He told before turning his back on us again and I had an upsetting look on my face.
"Oh, no. What are we going to do?" I asked
"Fake it till we make it?"
"Amelia I do not think that will work here."
Teddy and Sydney rushed over to us and once they were in front of us, we moved away from my father so he didn't hear anything.
"Guys, I've got an idea." Teddy told making Sydney cut in.
"He means we've got an idea."
"Mind sharing that with the class then?" Amelia asked as I nodded with her.
"How about we play some Earpiece Chicken?" Teddy suggested making me get confused.
"Teddy, Sydney, we do not have time to.... Oh..." I said once I realised and Teddy gave the ear piece to me. "But how are we sure this will work?"
"Mia may be secretive, but the two of us have something no one else does." Sydney began.
"And that's being childhood friends." Teddy continued.
"We've basically have known one another our whole life's. So they will know a lot of stuff about me that you might not."
"Like her favourite movie...." Teddy began before Sydney joined in.
"Alf."
"No guys, that's a tv show. My favourite movie is Drop dead Fred." She told making Sydney give Teddy a light smack on his chest.
"I told you it was a tv show."
"My bad. Good thing we got that out of the way."
"Extremely." We all told before my father rejoined us.
"All right, will Amelia and the young prince please join me on the stage?" He asked making us walk over to our respective sides of the curtain.
'Please let this work.'
"First question, what is Amelia's favourite dessert?"
"A sink filled with cookie dough ice cream."
"A sink filled with cookie dough ice cream." I repeated.
There was a pause for when Amelia shows her answer and my father gives a nod.
"That is correct!" He told making the guards clap. "Question number two: what was the name of Amelias first pet?"
"Boulder." Sydney quickly told.
"It was a rock she had when she was six."
"She used it to threaten people."
"Funny. I mean, Boulder. It was a rock she had when she was six."
"Correct again!" My father exclaimed having the crowd do the same thing. "What club activities does she do?"
"Art and a secret one." They both told as the same time.
"Art and another one that no one knows." I told making him look over towards her to see what she wrote.
I saw he got a confused look and opened his mouth to speak but didn't do it right away.
".... that is correct.... why does no one know the other club you do?"
"Because snitches get thrown into ditches." She told
"Son, you've picked a peculiar girl." He told making me nod with a smile.
"She is absolutely wonderful."
"Shaka bra!" She exclaimed making me smile more.
"Moving on! What is her greatest fear?"
"Being under water and bees. Particularly being stung by a bee."
"That is correct. What is her favourite colour?"
"It's a trick question." Teddy told quickly cutting in.
"Mia likes all colours even the shades."
"She says it's because all colours are important to earth and the universe."
"But if she had to pick it would be blue." Sydney told before they both spoke.
"Because it's one of the rarest in nature. Even with the things that appear blue don't actually have it in it."

"That is correct! What is her favourite animal?"
"A moose. She calls our home country the moose lands."
"That is correct. moving on! Prince Emil, your Moorat, she has eyes. What colour are they?"
"They are blue." Teddy told before Sydney spoke.
"No, they are the colour of ash."
"What are you on about? They are blue."
"I have never seen her eyes be blue. I've only seen them be ash." She told before I cut in to stop them arguing.
"Oh, that is easy. They are blue but it is also a trick question since they are also the colour of ash, depending on what she's wearing and how the light catches them. What she doesn't know is that sometimes it can be green. I always enjoy when seeing her eyes, since sometimes it's never the same at the end of the day from the morning. But there is one thing I know for sure, they sparkle like stars and I can loose myself in them forever... and I hope I'll be able to do that."
"Wow." She quietly said next to me.
"That was beautiful." My father told as he moved a bit so he wasn't facing me anymore.
They all wipe a tear away and my father continued to speak.
"Uh... I had... fifty more questions, but I do not need any more convincing. Like how many family members does she have that are alive." He told as he threw all the cards behind him. "You two are meant to be together. Congratulations."
We got off our seats and Amelia rushed to give me a hug and I spun her around quickly. Once I put her back down my father wrapped his arms around us.
"You have passed the Trials of Compatibility." He told as balloons began to fall around us.
"Yo this is sick as! Balloons are so satisfying to pop." She told making me smile and give a small chuckle at how her eyes were lighting up.
Sydney and Teddy rushed over and Amelia gave them a hug, as I was moved a bit away from them by my father.
"I am so happy for you, my son. I will return home so you can continue your courtship with Amelia, but I leave you with this warning: this is your last chance. You must keep a low profile. And for God's sake, no more BBQ runs."
"Yes, father." I told before we gave each other a hug before pulling away.
"I must ask this though. She made a comment about a father loving her and it hasn't left my head. What did she mean by that?"
"Her father abandoned her when she was younger and caused her and her brother to get into an accident since he left them camping. Because of that she's now terrified of going into water since it brings up the memories of nearly drowning."
"I see. Well I will help as best as I can to be a father of sorts for her that her father never was." He told making me give a smile towards that thought.
"I think she would very much like that." I told before he turned and waved her over.
"Amelia! Can you please come over here?"
She walked over towards us and had a confused look on her face at what was happening.
"Am I being executed? Cause big mood."
"I wanted to apologise about having you fish for the trout. I've only just learnt about your fear of going under water and the reason why." My father told
"Don't be. You didn't know, and you would have thought it was something small like not liking water going into my ears."
"Your a very kind and scary girl Amelia. I'm happy that my son found you and has you in his life. I hope you will allow me to accept you with open arms and be a father figure of sorts for you." He told making her smile.
"Of course. As long as for the engagement I get two moose's for my hand in marriage."
"She really does like moose's."
"It's quite adorable how excited she gets about them." I told before her gave her a hug quickly before pulling back.
"We must get home. I can never poop when I travel." He stated making Amelia pull a weird face.
"Oh what a lovely thought to have." She told as he clapped his hands and Iago rushed over and jumped on his shoulder.
Once my father was far enough away we rushed over to Teddy and Sydney excited that I was able to stay.
"Emil, we'd better help these guys clean up. My mums going to be gone soon." Teddy told
"Do not worry. The attendants will take care of it."
"I don't know, man. There's a lot of stuff here." He told before he looked to see everything was back to normal.
"God damn, I wished I worked that fast." Amelia told
"Wow. They really are good." He told as they all held a shocked look.
I grabbed Amelias hand and pulled her away from the other two.
"Is everything ok? Are we gonna go rob a place and be like the moose versions of Bonnie and Clyde?"
"No. I wanted to thank you."
"Why?"
"Because you didn't have to go through with this."
"Emil, even if we weren't dating I would have done this for you. Because I know how much you've wanted to come here."
"But to give up a life of education once we are both 18 and rule a country?"
"Emil, I'm an art student who is into a lot of creative things. I wasn't going to really be going to college in what I want to do. And if I'm ruling a country filled with Moose's with someone I love.... then why wouldn't I want with you." She told as her eyes filled with tears.
"I want it with you. As long as you know and want it as much as I do." I told and I knew my eyes had tears in them as well.
"I'm in for the moose's." She told making me chuckle.
"You are the best person I could have ended up finding." I told as I cupped her face before we rested our foreheads together.
"I'm so glad you picked here, my king."
"I'm glad as well, my queen."
"Look at us. A bunch of weirdos with tears in our eyes.... and crying is for the weak." She told making us chuckle.
We pulled apart and we both wiped the others eyes making us chuckle.
"Shall we head back to the others my future husband-to-be?" She asked as she offered her arm towards me.
"We shall my future wife-to-be." I told linking my arm with her before we walked back over to Sydney and Teddy.
'I'm so glad she's in my life.'
"Hey. What are you guys talking about?" I asked once we were next to them making Teddy quickly speak.
"Nothing."
'Maybe we interrupted something.'
"Ah yes. An interesting topic to talk about." Amelia joked making me smile.
"Well, I just want to thank you three so much, for everything you have done. I came to America looking to make a best friend. And now I have three, as well as someone I truely love. Four, if you count that dachshund next door who can bark my name."
"Oh, hey, since you're staying, what should we do to celebrate?" Sydney told making me look towards Amelia.
"Oh. I know. Let us watch that ridiculous sounding movie Drop Dead Fred."
"It's not ridiculous, it's actually very sweet and funny." She argued back.
"All right. I'll throw your cheese head into the microwave and make some nachos." Teddy told making me jump a bit in delight.
"I bet my face is delicious."
"Oh I can make my family specialty. Cheesy nacho chips with chives and sour cream." Amelia told making us all look towards her.
"Your family has a recipe for that?" I asked
"Yeah, my mother's brother is a chief in Italy."
"You have an uncle?" I asked
"Yeah."
"Why are we just hearing this now?" Teddy asked
"You never asked."
"Mia, we love you. But some of these things is so strange to hear." Sydney told making me and Teddy nod.
"That's fair. But let's go melt my art." She told making us head to start making the nachos.
"So, does everyone see the imaginary friend, or is it only her and people just see her talking to herself?" I asked
"That's the whole point of imaginary friend Emil." She told
"But can she see other people's imaginary friends?"
"You'll find out in the movie Emil."
'Im so glad I found her. I can't imagine a world without her in it.'
