Looking Into The Eyes of Death

Like an endless ocean of joy,
her eyes housed vast waters of love.
The stars, the planets, the entire universe,
the great ground, and the skies above.

Like a never-ending pit of despair,
his eyes were dark, and the home to black.
A mystery to some, a fear to others,
and from his arms, no one ever looked back.

No, he wasn't blessed with this,
but neither was he cruelly cursed.
She, however, was such a grace,
to all her creatures, a loving nurse.

She asked him one day, about his eyes,
where the despair and darkness thrived.
He laughed as he replied to Life,
"Death is just a riddle to the mere living eyes."
