Chans POV

Hyunjin gave me a slight nod as he was escorted out of the interrogation room. The interrogation had lasted an hour and a half and I'm sure he was exhausted. Changbin was currently busy putting audio and video files from the interrogation into a folder on his computer. I closed my laptop and walked over to the small desk where Changbin was sitting.
"I don't know about you but I don't think that Hyunjin knows anything," Changbin said, not looking up from his computer. "Both he and Minho have solid alibis at the time of the assassinations too."
"I agree. Even though we couldn't question Minho for that long, it seemed that he genuinely didn't know anything," I said.
"Nothing came up when their apartment was searched and they have no criminal record either," Changbin added, absentmindedly patting Hyunjin and Minho's personal files. "Do you think it's safe to say that they aren't the people we're looking for?"
"Let's look into it a bit more and if nothing comes up then they're off the hook."
I felt like I could take a sigh of relief knowing that it was no longer a strong possibility that Minho or Hyunjin were the suspects we were looking for. It happened all too often that wanted criminals tried to befriend us to avoid being arrested. I'm glad that this wasn't the case. Knowing that Jisung, Felix, and the others were still at risk with Lee Know and Hyun Woo still roaming free made my passion for wanting to catch them even stronger.

Jisung POV

A few weeks had gone by since Minho had been hospitalized and the double interrogation had occurred. Minho was now recovering at home. He currently needed a knee brace and crutches to get around. He would no longer need the crutches once his knee healed more, but he would most likely need to wear the brace for the foreseeable future.
A nurse had warned that Minho might have trauma and for the first few days of him being home, Hyunjin and I hadn't noticed anything. However, it soon became noticeable that he had a strong aversion to washing his face with cold water and just cold water in general. He had refused to open up about it, only saying that it made him feel like he was drowning.
Since Minho had come back home, Jeongin, Felix, and Seunmin often dropped by to give him 'recovery gifts.' Hyunjin had joked around saying that Minho was being spoiled only to receive a mouthful of tissues a few moments later.
"You told me that Jisung called you, but you never told me what you guys talked about," Hyunjin said, placing a few paintings back on the wall. The apartment had become a wreck from the search and Hyunjin had put in a lot of time trying to fix it.
"We cleared a few things up," Minho said simply.
Hyunjin looked at me and rolled his eyes, disappointed by the answer.
"Did you forgive him?" Hyunjin asked me.
    "Partially."
"Partially is better than nothing, I guess," Hyunjin said with a shrug.
"By the way, where did everything in your office go?" I asked, changing the subject. When I had checked the closet earlier, it had been completely emptied. No trace of what had once been in there had been left behind.
"I threw it away in a dumpster down the street," Hyunjin explained. "No one saw me, don't worry."
I opened my mouth to say something but Minho interrupted me.
"We're quitting being assassins. We can never make up for the lives we've taken, and we might be killed by one of our clients in the near future, but at least we can put the suffering we've caused to an end," Minho said.
"Damn, that was deep," I said. "But thank you for all of this."
An awkward silence had fallen between us, so I went to help Hyunjin put misplaced objects back in their correct places. We were nearly finished when Hyunjin's phone rang. He ran to grab it, his face going pale when he saw the caller ID.
"Hello?" He answered, leaning against the wall as he spoke. He went silent, listening to the person on the other side of the phone talk. A few minutes later, he put the phone down, taking a deep breath.
"Well? Who was it?" Minho asked, craning his neck to get a better look at Hyunjin.
"It was Chan," He said. The blood drained from Minho's face, assuming the worst. "We're off the hook."
"Are you serious?!" Minho cried, a wide smile spreading across his face.
"Yep! Two wackjobs turned themselves in as the 'real' Lee Know and Hyun Woo. Apparently, they fit with Soo-ah's drawing and have enough evidence against them to prove that it's true," Hyunjin explained.
I found it alarming that people looked up to Lee Know and Hyun Woo enough to turn themselves in for crimes they didn't commit. However, their timing kept Minho and Hyunjin from being thrown in jail instead. It was probably only a matter of time before the police found out that the men that had turned themselves in were fakes, but for now, Minho and Hyunjin could walk free.
"Jisung," Hyunjin began. "I'm so sorry for everything that Minho and I have put you through. I know that an apology can never make up for what we've done, but I want to thank you for helping us get away when you could have easily turned us in."
I often wondered why I hadn't turned them in the moment I found out their true identities, but now that the time had come where it had blown over, I didn't regret it one bit.
"Well...I guess that's the least I could do if you found me worth keeping alive," I said indifferently.
"Can we still be friends?" Minho asked hopefully. "Even if it's just in front of the others."
"Of course," I said, a small smile forming on my face.
They could never make up for the lives they had taken and the suffering they had caused, but I promised myself that I would help them redeem themselves in any way I could. That would be my final gift to them. But for now, I wanted to form a strong friendship with them and put everything that had happened behind us.
