Sunken Ship (95)

In the quietest part of the night,
When you hover between dark and light,
Wondering if you can float away on dreams,
Hoping they won't turn into screams.

The water between your toes felt like ice,
As you stared up at the midnight sky.
You felt at peace with the foreshadow,
Of your unconscious body floating to the shallows.

The ice drew up to your shivering throat,
Whispering that you will soon be afloat.
As you were hit with the last of the rain's debris,
Your ship finally fell to forever be lost at sea.
