" i'm at your door" i said into the phone talking to malania
" i'm not opening the door! you neglected me!" she exclaimed and i chuckled at her dramatics
" girl open this door, i brought you food"
" on my way" she said and hung up and i bussed out laughing. ole hungry ass
i heard running from the house then a boom and then the door opened quickly
" food please" she put her hand out and i smacked it down
" damn can i get a hi? a hug? i missed you" i mugged
" no because you neglected me! i was lonely and ari was busy and i fell trying to get to that food" she ranted and i laughed
" i'm sorry, i'm sorry i had to work over time at the pool." i laughed and handed her the bag of food
" mhm" she hummed and i sucked my teeth
" can i come in now? and get a hug, i want a hug" i whined and she laughed
" you can come in, i was just playing" she laughed and moved out the doorway
she walked towards the kitchen and sat down and waved me over towards her. i walked over and wrapped my arms around her and kissed her forehead before sitting down
" ooo you got me tacos" she cheesed and i laughed
" chicken is yours and i got birria" i told her and she nodded.
" thank you" she said and kissed my cheek and i knew my face was red. " aww look at you all red, i make you nervous?" she cheesed and i rolled my eyes
" shut the hell up and eat"
" gladly" she said and took a big bite into her taco, i sat there and laid my head on the counter sleepily " you not hungry?" she asked and i shook my head no
" i'm sleepy" i said and she pouted
" what time did you go to sleep?"
" i didn't go to sleep" i told her and she scrunched her face up
" why not?"
" because i don't know, i just was thinking"
" you wanna talk about it?" she asked rubbing her long nails across my face
" later" i said dismissing the topic and she nodded before taking another bite of her taco
" these are so good" she nodded and moaned a little and i laughed.
" you are one hungry ass person"
" i get it from my mama" she waved me off and the door opened
" get what from your mama?" her mom, ms. nia walked in
" my hungriness" she said simply and her mom laughed
" hi ms. nia" i greeted
" hi honey, what y'all doin today?"
" not much, we might just watch movies"
" okay well i'm leaving out again, i have to do something"
" like what" malania looked up
" i'm grown, mind your business" she joked and we laughed
" whatever mommy, be safe"
" i will , you know i keep it on me" she said while fake shooting guns and i laughed and malania shook her head
" bye mommy" she waved her off and i sighed at the relationship that she and her mom had. i wanted the same relationship with my mother
" bye daughter" ms. nia said and walked off
malania got up and went to the fridge, grabbed a water bottle and then placed it in front of me
" drink it now. i know you haven't ate or drank anything today so do it"
" how you know that?" i asked confused even though she was right
" i'm psychic, now drink" she told me and i grabbed the water bottle before drinking some and put the water down
" there, you happy?" i said and she nodded
" yes i am," she nodded smiling and she gave me a hug " now let's go upstairs" she said and we walked upstairs
when we made it to her room she jumped on the bed and opened her arms and i laid in them.
" being the big spoon is overrated" i smiled
" it is, now tell me what's wrong now, and tell me why you looked sad downstairs" she asked and i sighed
" i feel like your gonna judge me" i said shyly
" i'm not gonna judge you and i won't ever judge you people aren't perfect. i just wanna communicate. if we gon do this i want it to be right and i want you to trust me. if you don't want to tell me now then i won't make you but someday i want you to feel able to tell me." she told me and i nodded
" i can tell you. i just..i wish that i had the same relationship with my mom that others had. i never felt a real connection with her. i don't even think she really even wanted me. and like she didn't even care about me, and the stuff i been through with her just makes me upset sometimes." i vented and she nodded
she looked like she was thinking before she responded " it's okay to get upset sometimes about stuff like that. but you can't let it define you. sometimes some people aren't worth it to have relationships with. i know that's your mom but as a parent she should've put the effort forward. i know it's not the same but i care about you, and everybody around you cares about you."
i didn't know what to say so i stayed quiet. it was one of those things that you just listen and think and it doesn't need a response.
" you wanna tell me why you didn't sleep either?" she asked and i nodded
" my brother is going to move down here and i'm nervous. i feel like i disappointed him somehow. like i didn't do the best i could for him. i haven't talked to him since i moved and i just know he hates me"
" how old is he?" she asked
" 7"
" he doesn't hate you. your his sister, and you still tried for him and that's the good thing. and it's okay to feel nervous and everybody makes mistakes but it all about what you do after those mistakes to make a change and you did change, i've noticed. just make sure you talk to him when you get here. you love him and he loves you"
" your very observant, you know that?" i told her
" i try, i try"
" thank you for listening, i appreciate it" i said almost tearing up
" nothing to be thankful for, this is what i'm here for. good and bad times. thank you for telling me. i don't want you to feel pressured to tell me everything at one time though . we are taking baby steps" she said and i nodded
" wanna take a nap?" she asked cheesing and i nodded
i got comfortable and closed my eyes.
