Part 4

I went home and tucked the kids into bed. They were already asleep, but I wanted them to be more comfortable. I went into my room and saw the tumor on the wall, our tumor. I started thinking about that day, he was so happy. Bailey has his little smile and I love it. I miss seeing Derek everyday, but he's apart of him. I took the tumor.

"Amelia" I said down the hall

"What" she said walking out of her room

"I have a tumor" I said holding the cut wall in my hand

"Do you want it, Derek drew it" I told her

"Mer no that's weird. Keep it" she said walking into her room

I put the painting against the wall. I took the scrub cap that were in my jeans pocket. I opened my top drawer and went under my clothes where Dereks lab coat was. I put his scrub cap on it. I buried it under my clothes and shut the drawer. I took a shower and washed my hair. I washed my body. I tried not to cry as I thought about Derek. I started thinking about the good memories in the shower that I could never forget. I walked out of the shower and dried myself off. I changed into my pajamas. I fell asleep. I woke up the next morning refreshed. I changed into regular clothes and went into work early.

"Hey Grey" he said

"Hi Hayes" I said back

"We have another surgery" he said

"I know. This is going to be fun" I smiled

"See you around" he said walking away

I went up to the attendings lounge and changed into my dark blue scrubs. I grabbed my purple scrub cap and put it into my pocket. I grabbed a donut that someone brought. They brought a couple dozen for everyone. I ate it and went down to the patient. I checked her charts and she looked good for surgery. She fractured her ribs after falling off her tree house.

"Get the patient prepped" I told 4 interns

They went into the patients room and started prepping her. About an hour later the patient was finally prepped. I went into the scrub room and tied my scrub cap on. I washed my hands and went into the OR. The nurse gowned and gloved me. Everyone came in and Hayes was standing next to me. We began and I started cutting. I cut her stomach open from the middle. There was a lot of internal bleeding. I found the source and stopped it. Another one happened. Hayes found it and clamped it. We started repairing together.

9 hours later

Another successful surgery. Hayes and I were scrubbing out.

"Grey do you want to grab brunch" he asked

"Sure. I'm off now" I said

"Perfect let's go" he smiled

We scrubbed out and he took me to his car. We went to a restaurant about 20 minutes away. We both ordered sandwiches.

"So how do you get your techniques so perfectly" he asked

"I've been practicing a long time. I used my mother's techniques and created my own based on the familiarity" I said

"You're gonna have to show me that one day" he smiled taking a sip of his sprite

Our sandwiches came and we started eating. We finished our food and drove me home. He walked me up to the front porch because it was raining. Typical Seattle. He held a umbrella over my head.

"Well I better get going" he said

I looked into his eyes and smiled. I leaned up and kissed his cheek. I slowly backed away. He looked down at my lips and I felt something. I looked down at his and he slowly leaned in. I opened my mouth and he kissed my lips passionately. He backed up and I opened my eyes. He licked his lips.

"Hope your days really good Grey. I gotta get back to the hospital" he smiled

He walked away and I couldn't help, but smile. I opened my front door.

"Mhm" someone said

I turned to my left side and saw Maggie drinking wine looking at me by the window. I started smiling

"What" I smiled closing the door

"Don't act like I didn't just see what I just did" she smiled

"It's nothing" I blushed

"Sure it's not" she said taking a sip of her wine

I rolled my eyes and went over to the couch. I turned the tv on and started watching. I ended up falling asleep on the couch. I heard the door open and sat up.

"Yeah she's right there. She made out with the new hot doctor" I heard Maggie say

What was she doing. She was telling everyone. I turned around and saw Amelia.

"Meredith" she smiled

"Amelia" I smiled rolling my eyes

"Do not say anything" I said turning around to face the tv

"Mouth shut" she said laughing a little

I could tell she was really excited. I heard them whispering to each other behind me

"I can hear you" I said

I heard them split off. Amelia came over to me and sat on one side of me. Maggie sat on the other

"What are you guys 13" I said

"Tell us everything" Amelia said

"Literally nothing. All he did was kiss my lips for a second" I said

"That wasn't just a second" Maggie smirked

"How long was it then" I said

"10" she said

"Oh wow Mer okay" Amelia smirked hitting my shoulder with her elbow

"Leave of alone" I said

They both nodded. We watched tv and they both went upstairs. I got a text and looked at my phone. It was from Hayes.

Open your front door

He texted

I got up and went over to the door. I opened it and he was standing there wet because of the rain.

"Meredith would you like to go on a proper date with me" he asked

"Come in" I said

He walked in and I should the door

"Of course I would like too, but why didn't you just text me this" I smiled

"I felt like this was more of a romantic gesture" he said

I walked over to him and pecked his lips

"Yes I would love to" I said
