Taehyun and I walked into a separate bedroom, as he shut the door behind us. He huffed, and pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration.

"So let me get this straight," He began, "You bought a dragon egg, not just any dragon egg, but a metallic one?"

"Uhh— I mean I guess," I replied with a laugh, "Why? Did I do something illegal or something?"

"Technically, no. You can't be punished for it," Taehyun replied, crossing his arms, "But smugglers could get his hands on him, and sell him off to breeders or something! Or heck, even sell it to rich folk who don't care about their own pet's well being!"

"I'm sure it's fine Taehyun," I dismissed, "He's safe with me. I don't know what I'd do without him honestly..."

"Yeah I know he's safe with you," Taehyun replied, and sighed, "You two seem close—... I would hate for anything to happen to either of you."

I sat down on my bed, Taehyun sitting down next to me.

"Yeonjun, do you know what those kind of people do to dragons?" Taehyun asked quietly, setting his hands in his lap. I opened my mouth to talk, but Taehyun already answered his own question.

"They chop their horns off, and sell them off to make wands, their scales to make shields or armour," He scowled, "And their blood for its healing properties. It makes me sick just thinking about it."

My eyes widened with shock, Taehyun looking at the ground.

"And to think I was one of them at one point," He said in a quiet voice, "I did some horrible things that never should've happened, all because I didn't want to upset my family."

"Wait— What?" I put my hand on his shoulder.

"Taehyun—"

"A family friend, Yeosang, was the one who brought me into the business first," He sighed, "I didn't want any part of it first, but he just keeps dragging me into all this stupid stuff..."

He sighed deeply again, then looked up at me.

"Please, just don't make the same mistakes I did," Taehyun mumbled, looking me in the eyes, "Don't let Beomgyu fall into the wrong hands, both of you could seriously get hurt from it... and I wouldn't wish that on anyone."

I glanced down at the ground, and nodded.

"I'll take care of him," I promised, "I'll try to keep him with me, I don't know if I can..."

I laughed, "He likes to do things on his own sometimes. I really want to spend more time with him... he's kinda fun to be around."

Taehyun laughed, and nudged me playfully.

"I'll bet," He scoffed, "You two seem to get along really well... I really do hope you listen to what I'm telling you, you wouldn't want to deal with Yeosang. Or really any of those bad people, really."

I hummed in response, and smiled slightly.

"Yeah.. I know, I know," I replied, patting him on the shoulder, "Don't worry, he'll be fine. You don't need to stress about it so much. Like I said, he's safe with me."

Taehyun nodded, getting up from my bed.

"We should go check on the other two, I bet they're wondering why we're taking so long," Taehyun snickered, and sighed. I smiled, and got up from the bed too, the two of us walking out of my bedroom with blank looks on our faces.

"God damnit Beomgyu," I finally uttered out, fighting back more tears as I quickly walked home with him in my arms. I wiped my eyes on my shoulder and sniffled again. My eyes were still watery from crying earlier, both of my sleeves were damp from the tears.

"Why would you even think of doing that? It wasn't worth it... I wasn't worth it," I murmured, gently placing my hand over his wound. Quietly, I brought his chest closer to my ear as I listened for a heartbeat.

It was there, but I could barely feel it. His bleeding had stopped awhile ago, but he still hasn't moved a single muscle. I trudged back home, where I opened the door and walked inside. Kicking off my shoes, I shakily walked to the living room.

Gently, I laid him on the couch and placed a soft pillow under his head. I brushed a couple strands of hair away from his face, and sighed deeply. Walking over to the cabinet, I grabbed a couple of bandages and medical tape.

I carefully cleaned up the blood around the area and neatly wound the bandage on the wound. I grabbed a cloth, damp with warm water and a couple smudged off his face.  He flinched when I applied pressure on it, turning his head slightly. I sighed a breath of relief, and put the stuff away.

I grabbed a spare blanket we used to make the pillow fort with awhile ago and carefully laid it on him. Smoothly, I adjusted the blanket so that it covered up to his shoulders. I sat down next to the couch, leaning my head on the cushion.

He stayed quiet for the next couple of hours, his chest slowly rising up and down from his slow breathing. Relieved he was breathing, I reached over, and gave him a light nudge.

"Beomgyu hey, I don't know if you can hear me," I muttered quietly, and sighed, "You probably can't, but—... I'm sorry I got you into this mess."

I felt tears forming in my eyes again, as I quietly wiped them again on my sleeve.

"I shouldn't have left you at home by yourself if I'd known this was going to happen," I said quietly, clenching my fists. There was silence, and Beomgyu didn't move an inch.

"I'm so freaking stupid," I sniffled, "I can't even apologize without crying, I-I'm sorry Beomgyu."

The silence was almost unbearable, it just felt too quiet. I looked around, everything felt still and dull.

"I'm probably talking to myself, aren't I?" I scoffed, resting my elbow on the couch. No response. I sighed deeply, wiping a couple more tears from my eyes.

Gently, I moved a couple strands of hair away from Beomgyu's face. I leaned over, giving him a small kiss on his forehead.

"Get some rest, okay? I'll check on you in a bit," I smiled slightly, and got up.

Walking over to the lamp, I turned off the lamp and closed the curtains.
