THE FIRST SUNDAY OF DECEMBER ALMOST CAME TOO SOON. after ayumi had stormed out on bakugo and his beef stew, there hadn't been many chances to talk about it. for both fujiwara ayumi and bakugo katsuki, there was something more pressing at hand — the first sunday of december meant that it was the last class before they got their provisional license. it was a long-anticipated moment. it meant that after this, they would be caught-up with the rest of their class and be able to do hero work.

"i'm kinda nervous!" ayumi said to bakugo and todoroki, grasping the handle of her hero costume briefcase with one hand and fixing her scarf with the other.

with december also came considerably more colder weather. it took ayumi a considerably longer time to stretch that morning than usual because of it. she had to find her long winter coat — the one that went down to her ankles with fur along the hood — to cover up her legs and a thick scarf. the winter uniform for girls at UA was still a skirt, but a very warm pair of black stockings were worn with them. the collared shirt was also switched to one with longer sleeves.

she came outside her dorm bundled up like a puffy marshmallow person. the sight alone was enough to make bakugo laugh out loud for three whole minutes and make todoroki's lips tug upwards into a smile.

"what for?" bakugo grunted. "i can't wait to crush this and get my fucking license."

"i am also ready to get my license," todoroki nodded.

the shorter girl gave the taller boys a weird look. "i can't tell if i like when the two of you gang up on me or if i dislike it. getting nervous is normal!" ayumi insisted, puffing up her cheeks and balling up the fist that wasn't holding her her costume briefcase (which was covered in a warm pair of gloves).

bakugo could hardly handle how cute his girlfriend looked, his own cheeks flushing pink. "you'll do fine, so i don't know why the hell you're making such a big deal outta this," he said.

"ah. but getting nervous is fine too," todoroki reassured her despite not looking nervous at all.

ayumi's golden eyes peered at todoroki with a deadpan expression. "thaaanks, shoto-kun," she drawled sarcastically.

well, it wasn't like she was nervous because she thought she was going to fail. rather, ayumi was nervous because she hoped to surpass all the expectations she had for herself. she spent countless hours memorizing rescue protocol while making rice cakes, tireless training sessions working on hand-to-hand combat to suit her quirk, and many training partners to adjust to fighting different quirks.

shivering, ayumi ushered them along quicker by pushing them forward with one hand on their backs. "i'm starting to feel stiff! let's hurry and get to aizawa-sensei's car so we can get there quicker and stretch!"

"i'm going, i'm going!" bakugo said, trying to fight off the smile that threatened to creep onto his face.

"do you need some heat?" todoroki asked her, letting himself be pushed along.

"let's not burn my scarf, shoto-kun!"

at the remedial course site, aizawa shota blankly watched as fujiwara ayumi bolted out of the car and into the gymnasium. "why is fujiwara doing that?" he said out loud, wondering why there was no actual normal student in his class.
