Chapter 21

The next day...

Davina's pov

I wake up to my phone pinging constantly making me groan as I grab my phone and see I have multiple missed calls and unread messages from my dad and uncle making my eyes widen at how many there were and they were clearly panicked due to the sound of the few voicemails they left me.

I get up from the bed that I slept on so me and Dove went back with Kol after our little stroll, I didn't feel the need to go home and it was dark so Kol offered to let us stay at his apartment. I was going to decline but I just couldn't say no to him for some reason.

Kol let me and Dove sleep in his bed since I couldn't have my child sleeping on the couch it's not comfortable for a 1 year old. I was hesitant to accept though as I felt bad about taking his bed but he insisted I take his bed and that he would sleep on the couch.

"Mama" Dove mumbles next to me, I turn to see her sat up rubbing her eyes "morning baby girl" I say as she snuggles against me as I stroke a hand through her hair. "Are you hungry?" I ask "yes mama" she replies making me smile "okay let's get you some breakfast" I respond getting out of the bed and pulling on my jeans, Kol gave me one of his shirts to sleep in which reaches past my thighs and is very comfortable so I might just have to steal the shirt plus it smells like him which is nice.

I pick up Dove from the bed and exit the bedroom, walking out into the hallway. I hear noises coming from the kitchen so I make my way to the kitchen and see Kol moving about in front of the hob. "Good morning" I say making him smile as he turns around "good morning love" he says "what are you making? It smells good" I say "bacon and eggs, I figured you would be hungry as would Dove" he responds turning around plating up a small plate of bacon and eggs for me.

"I made some pancakes for Dove"he says pointing to a small plate of three pancakes neatly stacked on top of each other. "Thank you this is very nice of you" I say grabbing my breakfast and Dove's. "Well what kind of host would I be if I didn't feed my guests?" he says making me smile "you're a very generous host" I say and he just smiles while looking down.

"I'm not all that generous love" he says "well you have been with us and for that I am grateful" I respond flashing him a smile before going over to the table and sitting down with Dove on my lap. "I have a high chair for Dove" Kol says rushing into some coat closet and coming back out with a high chair.

"Why do you have a high chair?" I ask "it came with the apartment" he replies "you didn't buy that just for my daughter did you?" I ask making him look all sheepish. "Well yeah I kind of did" he replies nervously scratching the back of his neck as he sets the high chair next to me and I put Dove in it, strapping her in.

"Why?" I ask "I just thought since we're friends I could do with having one here in case you bring Dove with you" he explains "well again it was very nice of you but you don't have to buy stuff for Dove just to accommodate her, spend your money on yourself" I say and he just chuckles. "You're not use to people doing favours for you are you?" he questions "no, I'm her mother it's my job to provide for her and I don't take charity from people" I respond making him frown.

"I'm not giving you charity Davina, I do these things because I like you and I like your daughter she's a sweetheart and I want you to have a place where you will both feel comfortable if you ever need to get away from home" he explains "why do you like me?" I ask "well why shouldn't I?" he retorts making me huff.

"I'm a mess with a lot of baggage" I respond making him shake his head "you are not a mess love, obviously you've gone through some stuff but that doesn't make you a mess. I think you are beautiful, sassy and kind, you have your head screwed on straight and you're a good mother, that little girl is lucky to have you" he says making me smile.
