Sitting between Kendrick and Nia, Kalyiah quietly stared at the stage right ahead of her, where black entertainers awarded other black entertainers for their contribution to the culture, under the praise of a proud black audience. The annual B.E.T awards were hosted by the charismatic and energetic Leslie Jones, at the Microsoft Theater in L.A.
Unsurprisingly, Kendrick got nominated in various categories, including 'video of the year' for "ELEMENT", which was what brought Kalyiah there-or more like why Kendrick insisted for her to be there.
After Sza's performance, Issa Rae graciously walked on stage with a smile on her face. Being fans of 'Insecure' and of Issa herself , Kalyiah and Nia didn't hesitate to loudly cheer for her.
After naturally cracking a few jokes, Issa announced the nominees for 'music video of the year'.

"Big Sean - Bounce Back."
"Migos - Bad and Boujee."
"Solange - Cranes In The Sky."
"Kendrick Lamar - ELEMENT."
Big Sean and Migos asides, Kalyiah knew the results were most likely tight, but Kendrick wasn't one to anticipate a L. Nia slightly leaned towards Kalyiah's right ear and muttered, "Y'all already won this shit."
