ANNA DELANEY
"I'm so sorry I'm late. Boss man was out of the office all day so there was so much to do without him," I explained as I took a seat in a dark brown wooden chair at the restaurant Nat had set reservations at. The table was located next to the large glass pane that overlooked Central Park and the rest of the city. It was truly exquisite as lights danced across New York City at night time.
"No worries. I'm just glad you were able to make it to dinner," Nat's father, David Parker, said as he got up to give me a hug. Ever since I've met David, he's treated me with nothing but kindness and respect. I consider him to be the father I've never met or had. "So how's this new job I hear about?" he asks after we both take our seats.
"It's so hectic, there is always something to do every five minutes. I can not catch a break," I joked.
"I feel the same way! My boss has such a stick up his-" Nat tried to finish before David cut her off.
"Your boss is also your father so watch your tone. And I could always fire you too," he shot back.
Before the banter could exceed its limits, a waiter came up to the table asking for our drink orders. Nat ordered a mimosa, David asked for water, and I decided I wanted some alcohol so I got a cosmopolitan. "How's everything going with the company?" I asked David.
"Things have never been better with the company. You know, a decade ago I had thought the company was done and there was no saving it but we're at the top of the game now. One of the most-"
"Yeah, yeah, we get it Dad. You give the same speech everytime someone asks how the business is doing," Nat remarked as the waiter came up to the table to take our orders.
"Someone slept on the wrong side of the bed last night," I mumbled to David.
"More like every night," he remarked, making us laugh.
"You know I can hear you, right?" Nat said laughing. "I sleep like a baby every night for your information. I just haven't gotten laid in a while so I'm a bit cranky."
"Oh-um... Well-" David awkwardly choked on his drink after hearing about his daughters sex life.
"Nat. Haven't we talked about this before?" I asked sarcastically. She always does this every time we have dinner because she knows it'll make David uncomfortable. It's cruel but slightly amusing.
"I'm sorry, it's just so easy to get him flustered," she laughed as my lips turned upwards trying to hold in my own laugh. Luckily, the waiters came in with our food at the right time.

"No. No. No. I love you Dad, you know that but having you as a boss is terrible. It's like you trying to tell me to clean my room and wash the dishes all the time. It's just so-- infuriating," Nat tries to explain as I finish my pasta.
