Darren's pov:

They took her. They just took her. And after I told her I loved her! That was crap! They took my Lacey! I mutter, "She's gone."

"Not forever...not yet," father protests; my family is gathered in his study. Everyone else from the ball had already gone; they had packed up and gone quickly. They fled. The royal family stays hidden. Or I guess I should say Lacey's family, her royal family. The blood test had come back a very possible positive, and there was no mistake Lacey was part of the royal werewolf family.

They're still cowards. The lot of them. I look up to my father. "What are we going to do?"

"How long did it take you to get from Lacey's town to here? Think."

"About five hours," Harvey answers. Father sighs. "I see. It will take them that long to get her there, and they will be fully prepared for us to come after them. Unless we wait."

"Wait? Wait? How can we wait another God damn minute?!" Will protests, standing up abruptly. Max agrees, "We should take them on now! Then they'll know not to mess with us or our kind ever again!"

"We make a stand here and now!" Vince states. Father whirls around and barks, "You wanna get yourselves bloody killed? Fine! Go ahead! Don't come limping back to me!"

"Jacob," mother sternly warns without yelling. Father glances at her, takes her hand and breathes. "Boys, yes I understand the circumstances, but we must take precautions. They will not harm Lacey, we know it, and therefore, you can wait five days to get her."

"Five days?!" my brothers and sister exclaim; I stay sullenly silent. Mother flashes them a warning look. "I will not have my children die young, and you will wait the five days. You may leave as soon as possible, but in that time, they will think we'll not come back. You may think weakness, but would you rather die and never see Lacey again or live to?"

My brothers' and sister's eyes go downcast as they show surrender. Father dismisses us, and we leave his study without another word. At my door, Max questions me, "What's up with you, Darren? You were charging at those armed men earlier, and now you're just sitting back? What happened?"

"Maximus lay off of him!" Thane barks at him, standing in front of him. She glares at all of them until they move and shut their door closed. I murmur, "You know?"

"I saw you and Lacey out on her balcony," Thane explains, turning around to me. I smile slightly, and she smiles back. "I miss her, too, but we'll get her back."

"I know. I'm not going to leave without talking to her," I avow. She nods, and then I disappear to the darkness of my solitude room to wait until the fifth day.

Lacey's pov:

I bolt up awake, sweating and panting. I glance wildly around the room I'm in. It has sea blue walls, dark ebony wood furniture, a white arm chair, French doors with billowing ivory curtains, and an ocean blue bed with white sheets that are stained by my sweat. I swig my leg over to the side of the bed and run a hand through my hair.

Why can't I remember last night clearly at all? Why can't I remember a lot of things? A knock comes from the door, and then a man...Bryan comes in smiling at me. He places a kiss on my sweaty cheek. "Morning, sweetheart."

"Uh...morning? What happened?" I inquire, quite lost. He chuckles and sits next to me. "I guess you wouldn't remember. Sydney took you out last since you returned home, and you got quite drunk."
