there was once a little girl
born by the shore
she loved her family beyond love
but loved the ocean more.
she would try and try again
to capture it in paints
to understand its softness and rage
its purity, like saints
she would sit for countless hours
talking to the sea
its soft clouds of water
were immensely loved by she
she spent there, days and nights
and even the moon and the sun
grew jealous, for such a love
was offered to them by none
and one perfect, beautiful day
when painting the reflection of the sun
she fell off her pretty cliff
down to the depths of the ocean
but instead of feeling the breath
being knocked out of the lungs
she felt the waves around her
softly whisper and hum
"our dearest girl! how could we
destroy such a thing
that has loved us beyond love
and more?" they did sing
but with a cry
and in her throat a lump
she whispered, "I didn't fall,
I jumped."
