Hi lovely--

It's a girl! Start coming up with names, we'll call tomorrow and go over suggestions. She's beautiful, already has some lovely curly hair! So excited for you to meet her.

Love you!
Y/N

I stared at the note, hand starting to tremble as I read it over and over again.

"Bruce? You alright? You went pale," Gene said, placing a hand on my shoulder as Eric and Paul drew to a halt, turning to look at me.

"I...I missed it," I whispered after a pause.

"Missed what?"

"The...the...the birth of my first kid. I missed it."

"Oh shit Y/N had her baby?! I gotta go call her! And our parents!" Eric said. "Shit I'm an uncle now!" he said, running off with a huge smile.

I just kept staring at the paper, feeling tears well up in my eyes.

"Her due date wasn't until next week, I thought...I thought I'd be home in time. I-I missed it, she was all alone," I mumbled.

Gene gave me a tight hug.

"You couldn't help it. You didn't know your kid would come early, and you couldn't just bail on the band either, you're the lead guitarist. Y/N knows that, she'll be understanding! Now come on, go join Eric and say hi to your wife," he said, giving me a smile.

I brushed away tears with the back of my hand, still cursing myself mentally for not being there for her when she needed me, for not being there to see our baby girl come into the world, before following after Eric to the phone in the dressing room. He gave me a smile, looking up from waiting on hold.

"The hospital is putting me through to her room. Here, you talk first!"

"No Eric it's your sister--"

"Who's your wife and who just gave birth to your kid. You get first dibs!" he said with a smile. "And besides, I want to go chew out Paul," he added, smile shifting to a frown, handing me the phone.

Y/N: Hello?

"Hey! I-I got your note, oh gosh babe I-I'm so sorry that I missed it, I'm so sorry that you went through that alone, are-are you and the baby okay?" I asked in a shaky voice.

Y/N: Oh no babe don't be upset! It wasn't your fault at all, if anyone's to blame it's our daughter for coming a week early. I guess she was just too excited to meet her dad for the first time. And besides, I was watching your show, so in a way you were here!

"Oh tell me you didn't give birth in the middle of Gene's solo," I said with a faint smile.

Y/N: Of course not! I did it turning your solo.

I felt my heart melt, smile growing as happy tears welled up in my eyes.

"How's our baby?" I asked.

Y/N: She's absolutely beautiful. Oh Bruce she's gorgeous! She's got your eyes and oh babe she's got the cutest little dimple on her chin, just like you!

Tears were rolling down my face as I let out a happy stunned laugh.

"Oh b-babe she sounds adorable. Look I-I'll talk to Gene, and see if I can head home tonight, also Eric has been signaling for the past five minutes he very much wants to talk to you," I said with a grin at him, making him turn red.

"No, I was trying to tell you that Gene said we can go back to New York tomorrow!" he said.

"We?"

"Well yeah, she's my sister," he said, giving me a pointed look, and I felt my face turn red.

"Ohh yeah."

Y/N: Is that Eric?

"Y-yeah, did you want to talk to him?"

Y/N: Sure! I can't wait to see you and for you to see your daughter, oh Bruce I know you're going to love her.

"I can't wait to see the both of you, and-and I'm s-so sorry I wasn't there, I n-never should've agreed to play a show so close to your due date and in fucking LA, Y/N I'm--"

Y/N: It's okay! I knew it was a chance, I knew what I was getting into when I married a rock star. It's not your fault at all, you've got no need to apologize. I can't wait to see you when you come home!

"I'll be on the soonest flight out, I love you so much," I said.

Y/N: Love you too!

As soon as I handed the phone off to Eric, I rounded on Paul, absolutely furious.

"It's your fault that I missed the birth of my kid! You're the one who scheduled this stupid show, and for what?!" I shouted, trembling.

Gene put a hand on my shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze.

"To promote our next album. I know how it is, I wasn't there when Nick was born either. But I promise you, there's not a chance in hell I'm gonna let you miss the birth of your next kid, alright? Now get your ass to the airport," he said.

I gave him a grateful hug.

"Thanks," I mumbled, grabbing Eric and dragging him out of the room to find a cab as he called a goodbye to Y/N, hanging up the phone before taking my wrist and starting to run down the hall, pulling me after him.

"Come on! You gotta go see your daughter and your wife and I gotta see my niece and my sister!" he said eagerly.

And in spite of things, I couldn't help but smile, as excited as he was.
