My eyes slightly opened. My vision was hazy; and I had no idea where I was.
Then, it hit me.
I had a panic attack.
My vision didn't adjust for a while, but I spotted a silhouette next to me. I could barely make out who it was.
"Mel?" The person's voice echoed. It sounded familiar.
My vision got clearer, and I looked to who it was.
"Melody, are you okay?" Jimmy asked, his expression filled with concern.
Wait, he wanted to see me?
I lowered my oxygen mask, and my eyes widened. "Why are you here?"
Jimmy lowered his eyes. "I'm here because I didn't know if you were going to make it through that panic attack."
I started laughing. "So you suddenly forgive me? After all I did to you last night?" I ran my tongue around my teeth. "I-I mean, how long have you been here? How did you know?"
"I've been here since you got here last night. And I knew because just as I was pulling out of your neighborhood, I saw an ambulance rush to your house. I followed it, and they let me in."
"W-why do you even care that I'm alive?" I stammered.
Jimmy paused. "Because I can't even imagine what I'd do if you were dead."
I rolled my eyes. "Jimmy, just be mad at me, okay? You don't have to kiss my ass just because you don't want to leave me. I'm surprised you even give a shit right now!"
"I'm not kissing your ass!" Jimmy's voice raised. "You don't understand how hard it is for me to just leave you like that. I can't, okay? Just try to see my perspective here." Jimmy's eyes looked glassy, as if about to sob.
"You have no idea how bad I feel about what I said to you. I don't know what got into me; I just lost it for a second. I had a lot of thought on my parents' death, and it kinda got to me." A tear rolled down my cheek.
"I know,"
Someone knocked on the door, and walked in.
She was my nurse, apparently. She had straight, dirty blonde hair, and bright green eyes. "Miss Davenport..." She trailed off. Her badge said Schiavone. "You, my friend, had a really severe panic attack. Luckily, you're not staying here long. You have anxiety, so these attacks may occur frequently." Dr. Schiavone explained, writing on her clipboard. "Let me just check your heart rate and your pulse." She looked on the computer, and turned back to me. "You're good." She unhooked my IV fluids needle out of my arm. "Get out of your hospital gown, and leave it on the bed. You're still wearing your clothes underneath. And sign out at the front desk." Then, she walked out.
I stood up, and took off the hospital gown over my head.
"I'll drive you home." Jimmy stood up, and we walked out to the front desk.
I picked up a pen, and I wrote Melody Davenport in the name column, and wrote 2:13 p.m. in the check-out time.
Jimmy and I walked to the car, and went home.

We got to my house, and I unlocked my front door. It swung open, and we walked in. I closed it after Jimmy stepped in.
"Jimmy," I said abruptly. Jimmy turned around.
"Yes?"
I gulped. "I'm sorry about what I said to you yesterday. I don't know what got into me. Please don't be mad. I hope you can forgive me."
"I could never be mad at you." Jimmy stroked his hand on my cheek.
I sighed in relief.
Then, I started thinking about Kimberly Meyers again. I still couldn't figure out where that weird déjà vu was coming from.
I thought hard, determined to figure it out.
Then, it hit me.
"Oh my god," I clapped a hand over my mouth.
"What? What's going on?" Jimmy's eyes were wide.
I paced back and forth nervously. "You know that weird déjà vu I was having when we got that AMBER Alert?" Jimmy nodded. "It was the car. That was the same guy that tried to kidnap me."
Jimmy's jaw dropped. His expression looked more of anger than shock. "What?"
"We have to tell the police. Come on."
"Wait, hold on." Jimmy gripped my forearm.
"No time," I rushed out the door. I briskly opened the car door, and put the key into the engine. Jimmy quickly climbed into to shotgun seat, and we drove away.

I parallel parked in the parking lot, and shit out of the door. I slammed the car door behind me, and went through the double doors. I was so focused on Kimberly that I wasn't even thinking about whether Jimmy was following being or not. I looked behind me, and saw Jimmy walking behind me, still looking flustered.
I walked up to the women at the front desk. "Excuse me?" All the adrenaline pumped through me. She looked up, looking tired. "You know about that girl, uh, Kimberly, who was kidnapped?"
"Yes, what about it?"
"I know about her kidnapper. The same person attempted to kidnap me."
The women raised an eyebrow. "Do you know who it is?"
"No ma'am, but I'm just letting you know that this person is on fire. He's out for girls."
The phone rang. She picked it up, and said, "Hello?"
The voices on the other line were to inaudible for me to hear.
After a few minutes, she finally hung up. "Speaking of the devil, I just got a call from the Emergency Dispatch Operators that they got a call from Kimberly herself. She's being held in hostage."
Something inside died. I felt so bad. The women gazed at me, then gestured for me to follow her.
She led me to the back room. The EDO sat at her seat, talking quietly to Kimberly.
"It's okay, you're not gonna die. Take a deep breath, in through the mouth, out through the nose. You're gonna be fine." The EDO tried to calm her down. She was wearing a megaphone.
There was a long silence. I couldn't hear Kimberly, but I heard domes words every now and then.
Then, the EDO started coughing. She didn't stop.
"I can't..." She coughed.
"Okay, we'll have someone do it for you." The lady at the front desk chimed in.
They helped her in the other room. What the hell was that all about.
"I'll do it." I raised my hand. I sat in the EDO's seat, and put the megaphone on. I heard inaudible whimpers on the other line.
"But, you're not a police officer..." The women indicated.
"It's okay, I was Law & Order." I said. "Kimberly, are you there, sweetie?" I could see Jimmy's reflection on the computer screen. He still had the confused look on his face, but there was hope filled in his eyes.
"Y-yes," She stammered. She sounded younger than fifteen.
"Okay, I'm Melody. I'm gonna help you get free, okay? You're going to be just fine."
"Please hurry, I don't want to die." I heard her bawl on the other line.
"You're not going to die, sweetheart. I'm here to help." I used my knowledge from watching Law & Order, and found the button the track her phone. I clicked on it. It loaded, but said Unknown Mobile.
"Damn it!" I muttered. She had a disposable phone. "Anyways, Kim, where are you in the car? Is the car moving?"
"I'm in the truck." She croaked. "And yes, it's going really fast."
"Okay, look at your surroundings. Tell me what's there."
There was a long silence. "There's a sneaker, uh..." She trailed off. "That's it."
I had to think. I couldn't come up with any ideas. Then, I was snapped back to reality with Kimberly breathing heavily. "The car stopped. No, no, no, no!"
"Sweetie, calm down. Hide your phone under you, or if you have a pocket, put it in there. Put it anywhere where you think your kidnapper won't find it, but keep me on the line. Do not hang up." I was so close to sobbing. If this girl doesn't make it...
There was a line pause, then a piercing scream. My eyes widened. No.
