It had only been a month since Licorice had washed up on the kingdom's shore. His cloak in tatters, hypothermic, and having broken bones in many places. Although the cookie had been a part of the enemy team the kingdom's residents took him in and began nursing him back to health, warming him up, patching him up and keeping him calm. On top of everything Licorice was severely malnourished and refused to eat what they were giving him, only munching on small pieces of jelly then retreating inside to shun himself away and practice his magic. All the cookies in the kingdom had magical gifts when they entered the kingdom, the exact reason was unknown but they came in handy in combat The gift Dark enchantress had given Licorice in return for his devotion was the ability to grow and manipulate flora. Though he only grew gloomy looking flowers or flowers that had negative meanings. Ninja cookie, who took it upon himself to keep a watchful eye on the dark cookie had been gifted with enhanced hearing when he entered the kingdom meaning he could hear someone's eye twitch in the dead of night. It was a bother at times but Ninja found it to be extremely useful.
Ninja as well as most of the kingdom's residents knew Licorice was too weak at the moment to cause any major damage to the other cookies or their kingdom but they didn't trust the cookie enough to not cause any harm, especially to himself after Clover and Fig had witnessed him trying to drown himself in the soda lakes around the kingdom. Ninja was currently sitting on a tree branch watching the dark cookie as he sat beneath the tree where the Ninja was sitting. Ninja could hear every raspy breath from the malnourished cookie, he could hear the strain in his lungs with every exhale he took, he could see the twitch in his hands and the strain in his tired eyes. Licorice gulped before sighing and leaning back against the tree, his eyes shut as flora began to sprout between his fingertips, Stemming up from the ground and blooming into butterfly weeds, A flower that symbolizes loneliness. "I know you're up there.." Licorice spat barely above a mumble. Ninja chuckled a little before hopping down from the branch he was watching from. "And I'm the one with advanced hearing." Ninja chuckled at his own joke while Licorice scoffed and rolled his eyes. Ninja looked at the butterfly weeds blooming between Licorice's fingers. "Did you grow that?" Ninja asked nonchalantly. Licorice glared down at the butterfly weeds between his fingers and pulled his hand away. "Yeah.. Sometimes flowers just grow around me depending on how I'm feeling.." "I see.." Ninja serenely looked up at Licorice. "These flowers represent feelings of loneliness.." It was a nonchalant comment but it made Licorice's brows furrow together as he hugged his legs close to his chest. Ninja looked forward, leaning back against the tree. "Do you know what my favorite flower is, I love Cherry blossoms." Ninja didn't look at Licorice before asking "Do you why their my favorite?" Licorice shrugged. "I don't know...Cause they're pink?" Ninja chuckled lightly, closing his eyes. "Yes, that is one reason I suppose but Cherry blossoms are Japan's spring flower and they represent renewal and optimism. I try to think about them when I have a bad day. What's your favorite flower, Maybe you could use your ability to show me?" Licorice lifted his head smirking a little at a chance to show off his magic. Licorice held out his bony hand towards the ground, A row of bat orchids sprung up from the ground. "Bat orchids~!" Licorice grinned as he straightened his back proudly. "These are my favorites!" Ninja hummed. "Why so?" Licorice's smile faded a little. "W-well these flowers burst with confidence even though they're so dark and gloomy looking..Th-they also remind me of my little Bat-cat. I-it's one of my reasons to live.." Ninja nodded. "They are special that way aren't they?" "Yeah." There was silence from the both of them before Ninja offered some tea to Licorice. "U-um, yeah sure.." Licorice shrugged starting to get up. "Don't move." Ninja said gently as he got up himself. "I'll get it for you." Ninja started walking away, smiling under his mask
