"Go on ahead y/n he's waiting just up the stairs" it's been a while since the two have seen each other Xiao was too busy protecting Liyue and y/n was in Mondstadt taking care of the tavern with their boss

"Thanks" running up the stairs, loud stomping was heard from the outside which signaled the young Adeptus of who stood behind him

"Y/n its late, you just got here. Rest" Xiao spoke looking at the night sky, the same view he's looked at for the longest time but to him it was just as beautiful each night

"But its almost your birthday, I want to spend it with you" Xiao didn't admit it but he did enjoy y/n's presence and wished they would stay with him

"I do not celebrate these human events, I do not need to celebrate the year I was brought here" Xiao spoke coldly but y/n knew its just his own way of speaking

Wrapping their arms around his waist, he didn't flinch nor push them away because he actually enjoyed the moment and in fact placed his hands on theirs intertwining it

"Just stay silent and look at the sky with me" Xiao was flustered but still tried to act stiff and cold

"Ok" y/n stayed hugging his back and he cherished the moment hoping he could hold them for eternity

"You know Xiao" y/n's voice was muffled due to having their head on his back

"I love being here, with you. It's funny you probably never thought of feelings while I'm here completely fallen for you" Y/n stayed silent once they realised what they were saying soon after they gave a dry laugh trying to light up the awkward moment

"What am I saying, I'm just tired. I'll just head out now. Goodni-" before y/n could finish their sentence the boy in front of them held their hand tight preventing y/n from leaving their hugged position

"I return the same feeling" Xiao spoke quietly leaving a silence that made y/n anxious

"W-what?" Xiao spun around now facing y/n as he placed his hands on their cheeks

"I love you, I'm not a man of words so I'll just say it once" Xiao looked away flustered it brought a smile to y/n and they moved closer and kissed his pink cheek

The two still in a hugged position stared into each others eyes and y/n smiled

"Happy Birthday Xiao, I love you"
