Grayson:
    -Flashback-

The past few months have been hard on my pack. Members are going missing everyday, and fear had been infecting the community.
They looked to me for guidance but I had no idea what to do.
Rogues have always been our greatest enemy. But with their growing numbers it seems to great a threat for even I to control.
A knock at the door awakens me from my daze. Without my permission, a pack guard rushed in with a petrified look on his face.
" He's here,  Cain, he wants to speak with you. He's at the pack border."
I bolted out of my seat and ran for the door. The second my feet hit the grass I shifted into my 7 ft talk black wolf and booked it to the border.
Cain, the king of rogues. The biggest pain in my ass there ever was.
As I reached the border I could smell the stench of rogues, probably around 20 of them.
There he was, in his human form. Not even intimidated enough to shift.
I growled and went up to a guard that had been waiting for me. If he was in his human form so would I be.
The guard handed me a change of clothes. I hid behind a tree before shifting and putting them on.
I emerged and charged towards Cain
" You have some nerve showing up like this Cain." I spit his name like vinegar.
" Now, now,  Grayson. No need for such aggression." Cain taunted.
" What do you want," I growled.
     " I want your mate."
I took a step back in shock. The thought was preposterous. I didn't have a mate nor would I ever. I killed all chances of that when I decided on my ruthless ways. No way the moon goddess would grant me such a gift
And besides, Rogues couldn't have mates. They were stripped of that privilege when they left their pack.
     I chuckled under my breath.
" What makes you think I have a mate." He gave me a smirk in return.
" Just a hunch, I suppose." He took a step forward.
" If you are so convinced she doesn't exist then it would seem you have nothing to lose." He quirked an eyebrow, daring me to argue.
" What do I get in return," I questioned.
" Immunity. I will keep all rogues away from your pack." I furrowed my brows.
This could be the solution to all our problems. All I had to do was sign away my right to a girl I didn't even know existed.
" Deal." I stated with finality.
"Although I don't see how it would matter as you wouldn't be able to feel the mate bond." I chuckled.
" That is where your wrong." An old woman emerged from the crowd of rogues. A witch.
Their kind was driven to the brink of extinction after the Salem witch trials. I'd never met one in real life.
She stopped at Cain's side and handed him a blade.
It was curved and had engravings scrawled upon it. It looked ancient and brittle yet somehow powerful. Just like the witch I suppose.
" When we make this deal and my little witch says a few incantations, I will become as much her mate as you." My eyes widened.
" Although, sadly, I cannot take your bond away."
I looked at him though skeptical eyes.
" Why? Why do you want a mate so bad Cain?" He gave a sly smile.
" That is for me to know and you to find out." I nearly rolled my eyes at his antics. He was beginning to irritate me.
" Hold out your palm." The old woman instructed as she neared me. I did as she instructed.
Her wrinkly hand grasped mine as she dragged the blade across it leaving a crimson path behind.
She proceeded to do the same to Cain.
Our blood seeped into the engravings of the knife and it started to glow.
The old woman began chanting in another language spurring on the magic that flowed within the blade.
The blood was gone, replaced with a blinding light . And in the blink of an eye, the blade disappeared.
" It is done," the witch stated, returning to the crowd of rogues. I looked at my hand and the cut was gone.
I growled, and looked up at Cain.
" Now get off my lands. I don't want to see you or any of your filthy mutts again." I barked at him.
Unfazed he replied, " Until the day you or I meet my mate, of course."
I turned over my shoulder, ending the conversation.
I don't know what I had just done but all I know Is a feeling of unease was settled in my stomach.
