Dinner was quiet, reserved and tense beyond comparability. Silver against plates clattering away and Odin eyeing mistakes everyone made when it came to table manners. Frigga helped while you sat across from her—what fork to use, the way to place your cutlery, how to drink properly, how to decline or ask for more food—she was a life saver.

"Y/n, would you like to come with me for a stroll?" Frigga asks, once dessert was finished.

"That would be lovely, your majesty," standing up with her, you curtsy for Odin before joining her side to leave. "That was painful," you sigh out once the doors closed behind.

"Don't worry, it takes some time for him to warm up," she started to pick up her pace before slowly while passing guards. "I must ask this, it was an urgent question, I must admit," she sat you down on one of the hall ledges, the open space looking out onto the rest of Asgard.

"What's wrong?"

"How long have you been courting Loki for?"

"Uh... what?" Narrowing your gaze, crinkles along your forehead formed. "What made you think that?"

Frigga stilled for a moment before gaping internally at her son's audacity. "Nothing, you two just seemed close," she laughs. "Do you wish to court him?"

"Are you trying to set us up?"

"Do you have interest with me doing so?" she muses.

"I don't really mind-" you saw her look a certain way at you. "Fine, yeah, I like him, so what?"

"Well, out of everyone, I'm glad it's you, despite it only being a day of knowing you. You have a wonderful heart," she stood and started to walk. "Plus, if it's any consolation you have my blessing!"

"Excuse me??" You start to run after. "Slow down! Wait, what do you mean?? Your Majesty! Queen Frigga!" You called after but she started to sprint with a laugh. "Don't be cryptic!"

"Don't deny your love!" She yells back.

"I'm not denying but it's just a small crush!" You start to huff in deep breaths. "Your majesty!"

"It's love," she sighs out, gliding back to you.

"It's not... how the hell are you so fast?" slumping onto the ground, your arms spanned out as your chest heaved. A minute of silence passed until you were able to catch your breath, footsteps approaching from the distance.

"What have you done to her, mother?" Loki tilts his head with the group after hearing commotion.

"She's too fast,"

"You're too slow," her teases made your tongue stick out at her.

"Up," Loki helped you swiftly without trouble. "Don't ruin your dress,"

"Tell your mother to stop being so mean," you grumble as he straightened out the fabric of the sleeves.

"What are you tormenting Y/n with?" Thor sighs, kissing his mother's cheek.

"The fact she-"

"That I'm horrible with table manners," you butt in making her raise a brow.

"Precisely, but the moon is up, time for bed," she ushered you all away to the right corridor. "Goodnight!"

"So you dress her in your colours without even courting?"

Loki jumps at the sound of his mother's voice. "Pardon?"

"Y/n, you clad her in green, black and gold yet you are not a couple,"

"And? Green just suits her, it's nothing more,"

"I raised you for centuries, Loki, you are 1,350 years old, you think I wouldn't know when you are in love?" (Yes, Loki is 1,070 in the movies but he's 1,350 in this book (And all my books for that matter))

"No, because I've never been in love," he hung his armour which left him in casual clothing. "Never have, never will be,"

"You are so stubborn," she mumbles, digging her hand into the pocket of his armour to find your 'fanmail' from long ago. "Heimdall informed me of the letters you received from Midgardians, yet of them all you chose to keep her joking one,"

"Hey!" He snatched it away. "I- Uhm, I meant to throw this away," he clutched it.

"Mhm... well, I hope you come to your senses," she pat his cheek before walking to the door. "Odin wishes to speak to you and Thor tomorrow morning, so be ready,"

"It's not that I don't love our little talks,"

"It's just that you don't," Frigga nods. "I know, my son, but just tolerate this, alright? I will see you tomorrow,"

"Do you know what it will be about? My punishment?"

"I do not, but I doubt you find it punishment as of now?" Frigga smirks at the contemplating sigh from his lips. "Goodnight,"

"Goodnight, mother,"

The family chambers were near the guest ones, so early that morning you were the only awake, besides the royal family who's princes were set on a course to the throne room.

"Morning, guys," you saunter up to the men in full armour. "I'm going to put christmas baubles on there," jumping and poking as high as you could, Loki raises a brow, unamused. "Not a morning person, hm?"

"Not when the Allfather calls for you," Thor taunts, "or at all,"

"Seemed like it," nudging Loki a little you saw him fiddle. "Breathe, you'll be okay, nothing to serious will be addressed,"

"How do you know?" he lets out a breathless laugh when you link you pinky with his. "You're right... nothing too serious," he raised your linked fingers and kissed it. "Thank you,"
