Special Chapter 01

Soheila Zhein Jimenez.

The love of my life. She's... soft, very bubbly, and jolly. But there's something I know about her that she doesn't know I do. 

That she always hides something from me. Her beautiful scars, her problems, everything about her that she thinks is bad.

She's been overworking herself lately, kaya sabi ko sa kanya ay mag-pahinga muna siya at mag-resign. The money is for her family, and she's saving money for college.

She stopped because they needed to pay for her sister's tuition.

Whenever I see her smiles, I feel like I'd float to outer space. Her smile is like an art that can be displayed in a museum so people could realize its beauty. Araw-araw kong sinusuot ang necklace na binigay n'ya sa 'kin, it was her first ever gift for me.

I put my favorite picture of her in the locket necklace, she was holding my guitar with a sweet smile plastered on her face.

"Trevor, are you still in a relationship?" Mom asked firmly while eating dinner. I cleared my throat. Kami lang dalawa ang narito, my dad isn't here. He's... somewhere.

"Yes, Mom."

"Si Azalea ba ang nobya mo?" umiling naman ako sa tanong niya. Mom had been forcing me to go out on a date with her. She was just my childhood friend.

"No, it's still Soheila." Mariin kong sagot.

"Why not Azalea? I mean she's nice, she's pretty, she's smart, and graduated summa cum laude too... oh and she likes-"

"I don't like her, Mom." I cut her off.

She gave me a death stare, I didn't mind it, and continued eating. Pagka-tapos kong kumain ay tumayo na ako at umakyat sa hagdan papunta sa kuwarto.

I don't understand, am I required to like her? Her family and mine's always want us to get along... and even marry.

But I knew what my mom was capable of. She was friends with politicians, she had connections, and she would do anything in order to get everything according to her plan. 

The next day, I went to work. "Trevor, pinapatawag ka ni Boss sa office niya," bungad sa 'kin ng ka-trabaho ko, tipid naman akong ngumiti at tumango.

Nabigla na lang ako nang makita ko si Azalea sa loob ng office ng boss namin. She smiled when she saw me and waved her hand. "Hey, Trev!"

"Hey..."

"The reason I called is because... my family, including my daughter, Azalea, was invited to eat dinner with your family..." Our boss said.

Okay...?

Do I have to list it down on my planner?

Do I look like I give a fuck?

"We have a big announcement later. Make sure to come, alright?" He gave me a big smile.

"Of course, Sir." I tried not to sound disrespectful, I then excused myself and walked out of the room.

Nagulat ako nang lumabas din si Azalea, parang tutang nawawala. Lagi s'yang ganito lalo na no'ng elementary kami... but when she came back home from the States, it became so awkward for me.

Maybe it's because I knew that she liked me. I did my best to distance myself from her, but she just won't give up. She was also close with my mom, so it became very difficult for me.

"You know, I begged my dad to let me work here! So I could be with you," sabi n'ya, my brow shot up and I turned my gaze to her.

"You did not need to do that..." Bulong ko at naglakad ulit.
