Sam was on a payphone. "Alright, thank you for your time." He hung up and walked back to the table. Dean was working at the laptop. It felt so strange to see them doing the opposite of things. Normally Sam was glued towards his laptop and Dean was on top of hunting down the next possible place of where their father was.
"Your, uh, half-caf, double vanilla latte is gettin' cold over here, Francis." Dean said, glancing up from the screen as Sam came walking over back towards the table.
Scarlet rolled her eyes and dug her teeth into her breakfast, refraining herself from making a comment she would probably regret. She blamed her annoyance from the lack of caffeine in her system. She was dressed in black jeans, a red t-shirt and a black leather jacket. She also wore black fingerless gloves, black boots and a black baseball cap.
"Bite me." Sam muttered, sitting back in his seat next to Dean.
"So, anything?" Scarlet asked with a mouth full of food, speaking before swallowing. James rolled his eyes.
Sam gave Scarlet a grossed out look from the childish behavior he expected from his brother. He put his card back into his jacket pocket for safekeeping. "I had 'em check the FBI's Missing Persons Data Bank. No John Does fitting Dad's description. I even ran his plates for traffic violations." Sam tossed his hand in the air, leaning back in his chair.
"Sam, I'm tellin' ya, I don't think Dad wants to be found." Dean said, staring at his little brother. He changed the subject when he turned the laptop towards him. Sam looked disappointed.
James leaned against Scarlet's side. "You'll find your daddy sometime," he reassured Sam, though his promises sounded a little empty to both of them.
"Check this out." Dean showed Sam an article on the computer about Rich's death. It read: Mysterious Death of a Fraternity Brother By Mark Gerald CALUMET COUNTY -- THE MUTILATED BODY WAS FOUND NEAR THE VICTIM'S CAR, PARKED ON NINE-MILE ROAD. Authorities are unable to provide a realistic description of the killer.
The sole eyewitness, whose name has been withheld, is described as "distraught" by police. She is quoted as saying the attacker was "invisible".
"It's a news item out of Planes Courier. Ankeny, Iowa. It's only about a hundred miles from here." Dean added.
"The mutilated body was found near the victim's car, parked on 9 Mile Road." Sam said, reading the article, he looked at his brother to see what was so special.
