*KIMBERLY'S POV*
"This can't be happening...she's not supposed to be here for another two and a half weeks!" I pretty much cried as I sat on the bottom of the stairs. Trying my best to keep calm. But that was proving more difficult than I first thought.
My breathing was fast and irregular.
I was really beginning to panic. Scarlett wasn't meant to be here for another month; but she was on her way now. I didn't know what I was supposed to do. I felt like I was pretty much on my own. I needed Nathan and I needed him now.
But I'm sure that wasn't going to happen.
"Kim. You need to calm down..." Tom said to me as he took a seat next to me, taking hold of my hand as he did so. I'm sure he would regret that decision later on.
"Tom, I can't calm down. My daughter is coming and she's a whole month early!"
"But if you don't calm down, then you'll only make things worse. Please Kim..." Tom begged me. I know that he was only trying to help me, but at a time like this, I wasn't really going to listen to him.
"Is there anything that I can do to help?" Kelsey asked.
"Phone an ambulance please!" Tom smiled at her and, with that, Kelsey left her spot on the stairs. Immediately rummaging around in her bag; obviously looking for her phone. I'm guessing that was the last place that she put it.
"Tom, is Scarlett going to be alright?" I asked him through the tears which were now falling.
"I'm sure she will be fine. We just need to get you to the hospital, so will you please calm down?" Tom smiled at me again, the tone of his voice softening as he did so.
"I need Nathan here. I can't do this without him..." I said as I looked at the ground. Each time I felt a wave of pain washing over me, I squeezed Tom's hand as hard as I could. I could hear him wince in pain each time I did it. But he didn't complain. He just accepted how I was conquering the pain.
"But you told him that you never wanted to see him again?"
"I know that I did, but I really need him. Please Tom?"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes I'm sure. I really need to see him and I need to see him right now..."
"Okay then Kimberly, I'll phone him and I'll tell him to come. But, if he doesn't, then that's his loss..." Tom smiled at me as he walked away, leaving me sat there on my own. I had no idea what I would do if Nathan said that he wasn't going to come. Me and him had everything planned for the day that the baby was born.
I hadn't spoken to anyone else about how I was going to deal with this. It was just between me and Nathan because I never even considered that we wouldn't be together when Scarlett arrived. I really did love him and I really did need him. More than ever did I need him.
"The ambulance is on it's way..." Kelsey smiled at me as she arrived back and took her seat on the stairs next to me.
"Thanks Kelsey!" I smiled at her.
"So, I have something to ask you. Why did you end it with Nathan if you still love him?"
"Do we have to talk about this?" I sighed, looking at the ground.
"It will take your mind off the pain. So, tell me, why did you end it with Nathan if you still love him?" she asked me again, taking hold off my hand as she did so. I had only just met her yet she was being nice to me and treating me like we had been friends for a long time now. She was so sweet. It makes me wonder why Tom hadn't introduced me to her sooner.
