When you're looking to easily beat your target or try to end a battle quicker this allows for that.
It also allows you to create explosions for smokescreens(which you don't learn until quirk training). You can also use it to create distraction which you'll see later. Or slow down and very strong enemy.
Weaknesses: the thing is you have your father's explosion body so you really aren't immune to the electricity you create though instead of shocking it hurts your body for every explosion you make so if you make a lot of explosions your body will be pretty sore
