I followed Ms. Venable until she stopped at a door and opened it without even knocking. "This is the greys room. Only the purples and some other important people like me have their own bedrooms. You should put those cloth on." She pointed at a grey dress, that was laying on one of the three bunk beds. "After you have change, you may go to the kitchen and help the other gray with the dishes. Dinner is at 7pm."

I thought that Ms. Venable would leave the room after she finished giving me her instructions, but she made no effort to go. Her piercing gaze watched over me as I took the gray dress in my hand and began to take off my blouse. I turned my back to her because I did not want her to see my naked breasts, but I still felt her gaze insisted on my body. When I finished, I looked at the floor. How embarrassing this situation was.

Ms. Venable showed me the way to the kitchen. As she saw the mountain of unrinsed plates, she wrinkled her nose. "Better be quick. I do not tolerate unpunctuality." With that she left the kitchen. I went to the sink and started to clean the plates. Suddenly the door opened again and a young woman with the same dress as mine and a dark blonde topknot hairstyle entered the kitchen. "Hey." I said. "Hi, oh a new face. I am Mallory and what's your name?" she asked. "I am y/n. Nice to meet you, Mallory." "Where did you come from all of this sudden?" she asked and grabbed a plate. "I must be fainted. I don't remember anything except for my name. "I mumbled. "Oh, poor girl. But let me tell you, you haven't missed anything. Day in and day out we do the housework. As if the others were not able to do it. But washing dishes is at least still pleasant. Coco always wants me to hand her toilet paper when she poops, that sucks." "I hear you. So, Coco is a purple I guess?" "Yeah, she is something like my friend and boss at the same time. She brought me here. Without her I would surely have died." She explained and I nodded understandingly.

We washed all the plates and then stacked them on a serving cart. "Oh, it's almost 7pm. Hurry!" We pushed the serving trolley into the dining room. The dining room was really big with a huge brown wood dining table in the middle. I helped Mallory setting the table, then we stood in a corner of the room. Four other greys joined our place and a few minutes later the purples appeared. Mallory waved at a blond woman with a big purple dress. That must be Coco. Besides Coco there were three other women's, a younger one with curly hair, a middle-aged woman and older one. Furthermore, there were 3 young man and two of them seemed to be a couple. So, this is the elite. Uhu.

When I heard the rhythmic tone of a cane hitting the floor, I know that Ms. Venable would enter the dining room pretty soon. "Good evening." she said. Two of the other grays stood up and served the dinner. If you could call it dinner. I don't have any idea, what this was. It didn't look like food at all. Coco seemed to read my mind because she breathed indignantly and slammed her hands on the table. "I can't eat those nutrition cubes anymore. I am starving. Why don't we have any meat or vegetables?" Miss Venable hits her cane on the floor and Coco immediately felt silent. "If you don't want to eat it, feel free to starve instead." Ms. Venable countered. "The cubes are the only thing we have till the next 16 months. You better be grateful, Ms. St. Pierre Vanderbilt." The woman with short, trimmed, black hair who stood next to Ms. Venable added. "Of course, Ms. Mead." Coco answered.

After the meal, the purples stayed at the common room, talking about boring stuff. Mallory had to stay with Coco, so I went back to the gray's bedroom. Am I allowed to sleep now? Even though I slept two weeks straight, I got tired after this odd day. Should I ask Ms. Venable about it? No, she is not my mother, and I am old enough to decide when I want to go to bed. But first I have to use the bathroom because I haven't been to the toilet today. I stepped out of the bedroom and searched for the restroom. The corridors were so big and confusing. I didn't know where to look at.

Suddenly I heard an echoing noise on the hallway. I turned around and looked in Ms. Venables cold eyes. "Hello Ms. Venable." "Why aren't you working, Miss y/l/n?" she asked with a fiery voice. "Well, I didn't know that I have another work to do. Actually, I am looking for the bathroom." I answered. Ms. Venable put her head to the side and examined me. "You are quite bold, Miss y/l/n. Didn't I say that I value good manners?" "I am really sorry Miss Venable, but I really have to pee, uhm I mean use the bathroom." She shook her head. "Oh my. What has happened to your linguistic expression?" "Excuse me?" I asked. What does she mean? She doesn't know me at all. Or does she? No, I am pretty sure, I have never seen her before. "Follow me." She commanded and I obeyed.

"This is the greys bathroom. I hope next time you'll find it all by yourself." "Yes. Thank you, Ms. Venable. That was really kind of you." I thought I saw a brief smile flit across her lips but then she tensed up. "Don't ever call me kind." She said and left the floor without saying anything else. I furrowed my brow. Did she want to be seen as a strict, aloof woman? Hm, whatever. It's not my business to question her behavior. I went to the bathroom to finally pee. What a release! After leaving the bathroom I went back to the grey's bedroom.

"Hey y/n." Mallory sat on her bed. "This is yours, by the way." She pointed on the mattress above her. "Well, thank you." I answered. "How was your first day being a slave?" she asked. I laughed. "Seems that I am not the only one who refers to us as slaves." I said. "Don't get me wrong, I am glad that I am alive but the work here sucks without electricity. And I don't like the purples besides Coco. And the greys are also really boring." Mallory explained. "But you seem cool." She added. "You just met me." I said. "I know, but I have the feeling that you are something special." "Uhm, I don't know what to answer. Thank you, I guess?" "Don't worry, y/n. We should sleep now. Tomorrow will be an exhausting day." "Okay, good night, Mallory." "Good night."
