(Book AU)
I was in my little area in the children's home, doing some homework I had. I use that area for working because it helps me focus. But that day, I couldn't seem to place my finger on it.
Out of frustration and confusion, I started to bang my head on the desk. Not hard enough to hurt myself, just because I was annoyed. Annoyed because I knew what to do, but it was on the tip of my tongue, and I couldn't get it out.
After banging my head on the table for around a minute, I stopped when I heard someone walk in. I looked up.
'Hey Millard.'
'What are you doing?'
I showed him my paper. 'I don't understand this crap.'
He raised an eyebrow at me. 'Well I don't think banging your head on a table will do much.'
'I guess that's true...'
He pulled a chair over and sat next to me. 'Come on, I'll help.'
I smiled. 'Thanks.'
After a lot of explaining, I finally got it. I could understand how he could make an excellent teacher. Because in the process, I asked a lot of questions.
(Honestly, a few a little stupid)
But he didn't mind at all.
'Wonder why I was struggling earlier.'
'We all get stuck sometimes. That's why there's people to help.' Millard said as he winked.
Something told me that when he said people, he was referring to himself as one of them.
I playfully pushed his arm. 'I get it, Mr. Einstein.'
'Just saying. But thank you for comparing me to him.'
