Dom woke up to the sound of his alarm, He looked at the time on his phone 6:30AM on the dot. He rolled over in the giant bed and gently shook his wife awake, before getting out of the bed and heading for the shower.

Today was a big day in the Harrison household, one that had been looked forward to and dreaded all at the same time. It was a bittersweet day, Knox's first day of school.

The tiny five year old was still fast asleep in his bed while his parents got ready for this day.

"Are you ready for this?" Skylar asked from the shower as Dom brushed his teeth

"No" He answered honestly "Are you?"

"It feels like we just brought him home yesterday and now we're dropping him off at school" she said and He could hear the disbelief in her voice and honestly he felt the same feeling, it was a surreal feeling

Once the couple were ready for the day, Skylar made breakfast while Dom woke Knox up and began to get him ready for the day. They were trying to make sure this morning went smoothly and it was as stress free and light as possible for the little boy who was already nervous.

Knox was the true definition of a daddy's boy, he was attached to his father 24/7 and there was nothing wrong with that but at his age most kids would be yearning to play with friends but he was content just playing by himself in the same room as his father.

When the idea of going to school was brought up to him a few months ago he immediately shut his parents down. Knox never went to a proper preschool because of his parents jobs, he was simply given the lesson plans and taught by his parents. Skylar and Dom thought it was best to give their son life lessons instead of actual school lessons.

He could learn about geography from all the places they traveled instead of staring at a map for hours, he would learn math when cooking with his mother or counting money when buying things from a store with his father instead of learning the simple 2+2=4, His parents tried hard to take him somewhere in every town or city they visited that was educational, whether it be a kids science museum, a historical monument where they would explain it to him in terms he understood or an art museum. Knox though he had never been to a real school before was very smart for his age and that was determined when he went in for placement testing before school started.

Skylar got the call while she was working on phone and media interviews in her office one day last week from the teacher and principal of the school telling her that based on the placement testing they thought it would best fit Knox's educational development to place him in second grade, At five years old they wanted to place him two grades ahead.

Skylar refused that idea completely as soon as it was offered. She knew her son was smart, smarter than her some days and she wasn't afraid to admit that but she wasn't going to let him skip two grades and be the youngest and smallest kid in the grade, she wasn't going to overwhelm him with more stress than what he already had. Yes he would be smarter and know everything the other kids would be learning but he needed to be with his age group, that was the whole point in putting him in school in the first place, so he could be with kids his own age and develop the social skills he didn't necessarily have.

After breakfast was over, Knox quickly brushed his teeth while his mother finished doing his hair and ran her hands over his outfit one more time. Dom helped the little boy put his shoes on before grabbing his backpack as Skylar snapped a few photos on her phone.

"Mummy" Knox whined as he watched his mother taking pictures

"Sorry" Skylar apologized and gently pushed him towards the door "Just one more" she said
