Prologue: There are three ways to survive in a ruined world

*edited*

[There are three ways to survive in a ruined world. Now, I have forgotten a few, but one thing is certain. The fact that you who are reading this now will survive.

-Three ways to survive in a ruined world]

Ha-Neul Park, 23 years old and fresh out of College.

A writer.

A reader.

An artist.

She was a quiet girl and was well known for her outstanding writing skills. Her Webtoon 'Another ReRun', and her online identity 'HeavenAndHell' (inspired by her English name Heaven) are well known all over the world.

'Another ReRun' was a story of a young man, by the name of Bai, who had lived a satisfying life when he was alive. But when he died, a voice, called the system, spoke in his mind and told him of all the consequences his actions had had. It had been a shock to see how badly the people around him had been impacted.

So the system gave him two choices. <<Do you wish to reincarnate with this negative karma hanging off of your shoulders or do you wish to go through your life once more, righting all your wrongs and helping those who you have wronged unintentionally?>> It said.

"Will you be by my side?"

<<Only if the host decides to ReRun>>

"Alright then."

Bai had been a rather selfish character, and maybe Heaven was the same. Weren't all humans selfish by nature?

It was currently summer and she was traveling back to Korea to visit family. Heaven had to choose whether or not she would stay in America or move to Korea.

"We'll miss you, Heaven!" Her redhead friend Anna cried, wiping away nonexistent tears while latching onto her boyfriend's arm.

Lucas gazed down fondly at Anna, patting her softly on the head. He then looked up at Ha-Neul, giving her a big smile.

"Don't have too much fun without us." He chuckled, earning a playful punch from his twin, Savannah.

"Don't listen to him, Heaven," Savannah said, flipping her braid over her shoulder. "Facetime us often, okay?"

Savannah went in to hug the shorter girl, "If you don't, I'm going to bother you with texts and calls every five seconds."

Ha-Neul nodded, smiling brightly before turning to leave, but then stopped, turning back around. She held out her arms wide to the group.

"I'll miss you guys!" She declared.

She was immediately engulfed in a suffocating group hug. People laughed, some cried, but they all wished Ha-Neul a safe trip. Ha-Neul was overwhelmed by their love and was holding back tears by the time they were done. With last goodbyes, she quickly turned and entered the airport.

It wasn't until thirty-five minutes later that Ha-Neul could let out a sigh of relief and sink into her first-class seat. She only had her eyes closed for five seconds before she was tapped on the shoulder by a flight attendant. She gave a polite smile and ordered a glass of water. While waiting, she pulled out her phone, going straight to the group chat.

--'On the plane and ready to head out!!'

She sighed and put on some earbuds, listening to her favorite Kpop tracks. After a couple of songs, the speaker turned on and the captain finally announced that the plane would be lifting off soon. Ha-Neul closed her eyes, letting herself drift away.

She was able to rest for a good hour and a half before groggily waking up to the sound of her phone vibrating. Her sister's contact showed up on the call, and Ha-Neul quickly picked up.

"Eonni~!" A high-pitched voice spoke through the speaker.

"Don't do that, that's gross." Heaven shuddered.

"Hmph, whatever. Anyways, eonni~ My boyfriend broke up with me!"

"Eh? Good for him then."

"Eonni!"

"Hah...why'd he break up with you?"

"Remember Ye-Eul? That bitch..." Heaven raised an eyebrow at the curse.

"I remember her all right, weren't you two best friends?"

"Ugh," The little girl groaned. "That was before that thieving bitch stole my boyfriend from me! I caught her making out with Han-Seung Oppa!"

Heaven's jaw unknowingly dropped. "Seriously? Why?"

"Because she's a bitch. Anyways, eonni come home soon and take me shopping."

"...Wow. Alright."

"Thank you, Bye~"

Ha-Neul sighed, rubbing her forehead in exasperation. Her little sister, Hae-Won, had just turned seventeen and was already going through boys as if they were a deck of cards. Ha-Neul was worried for her little sister, afraid that she would get hurt. However, she couldn't do anything about it right now, so to take her mind off it, she read a couple of chapters of a webcomic she loved. Slowly, but surely, Ha-Neul has lulled into sleep again.
