Zara P.O.V
So who would've thought of all things a science project would be the thing that helps me and Quintez actually be friends. If I'm being totally honest I've always loved his vibe he's fun to be around and now I get to experience it first hand.
"Your lying. You've never seen not nan one?" Quintez asked me. Everyday after school we hang out. We would work on the project for a while before going into different topics and just talking until it got late. Today was no different except for we turned in the project and now we were just hanging out.
"Nope I've heard of them of course but never really took it upon myself to watch them." He shook his head and I laughed at his dramatics. He took the remote off the bed and turned on the movie.
"We're watching every transformers right now." He said with a look of determination. This is what I mean by he's fun to be around I laughed and he hopped on the bed sitting right beside me. "Isn't there like 5 of them?" I asked.
"So what. Today's Friday were good." He responded. "What about you friends?"
"They'll be fine without me." I couldn't help but smile at the answer. "Wait we can't start a movie marathon with out snacks." He said standing up and putting his shoes on.
"Where you going?"
"To the store I'll be right back."
"Naw I got it my brother down stairs and he always has hella snacks down there because he has his game setup so we'll go get some from him let's go." I told him then took his hand and dragged him to the basement. I tired to not dwell on the fact that we were holding hands.
Once we got to the basement we heard my brother talking into his mic.
"Yo." I said catching his attention he paused whatever he was doing and turned to us.
"What?"
"Can we take some snacks with us please?" I asked pouting because he was my big brother and he never says no to me. "Take whatever you want I'll replace it." See.
"Thank bro." I said and we took a combination of snacks and bring them back up to my room. The bed was a queen sized so it fit us well.
We started the movie and we were silent most of the time with his occasional comments. 3 movies in I had to use the bathroom. I try to get up when I feel a weight on me and that's when I realized that Quintez head was on my legs and his hand was under them hugging them in a way.
"Quintez...quintezzz....Tez!" I said shaking him he jump up when I screamed his name. He looked confused for a sec then embarrassed.
"I'm sorry...I didn't mean to do that...I'm sorry." He rambled and I smiled and told him it was okay. Once I was done I came back out to my room and saw Quin on the phone.
"It's okay Niya just take a nap and I'll bring it by in the morning I promise." He hung up after a quick bye and looked towards me.
"Everything okay?" I ask hoping he didn't have to go. It was late but I figured since it was the weekend he could stay for a few more hours.
"Yeah my sister was just upset because she left her stuffed bunny in the car."
"Oh you can bring it to her now if you want." Even if I didn't want him to leave he cares a lot about his siblings and I didn't want to keep him from them. "Naw naw she good she wasn't even that upset about it she just sleepy." He said shaking his head.
"You know that from a phone call?" I asked smiling. "Pretty much yeah she get all whiny when she tired or bored or if she don't get her way."
"Mmm I don't know much about younger siblings seeing as I'm the youngest." I said sitting next to him again. The movie was still playing in the background low.
"It has its ups and downs sometimes their too much and other times their chill and fun to be around."
"You only have the younger 2?" I asked him and he nodded. "So let me ask you something." He nodded for me to go on.
"How'd you meet the boys?" I asked referring to Raymond and Jabril the 3 of them seemed like total opposites and don't seem like the type to hang out. Jabril is too chill and quiet. Raymond is too outspoken and hyper. And Quintez is nice and sweet for his own good sometimes.
"We met when we were kids it was before we started kindergarten. We lived in the same complex and in the middle of said complex their was a playground and we all met there." He looked like he was in thought after. "Well actually we each met our friend Jazmin first then she introduced us to each other."
"Oh I've never met her." I said racking my mind for a Jazmine among them. "That's because she moved the year that you came so y'all have never saw each other although y'all was just at the same party so y'all might've saw each other with realizing it." He said and shrugged
"Now I gotta question." He said and I said go ahead. "I was kinda scared to ask you when we first met if I'm being honest but why did y'all move here?" He asked and I was lil caught off guard but answered anyway.
"To Greenville? Umm my dad died and my mom wanted to get a fresh start here. Also she got a job offer here too." I answered nonchalantly not wanting to show too much emotion over the death of my father.
"Oh. I'm sorry for asking." He said and it looked like he was mentally slapping hisself. I laughed and said, "it's all good don't worry."
We chilled for a couple more hours or so just talking with one another. My brother popped in the room and hung out for a bit before leaving and going over a friends house. It was like 1am when he finally decided to leave.
"I can't believe it's so late." He said sliding his jacket on. "Yeah I guess we lost track of time." I was glad we did.
"Yeah I had fun honestly we should do this more often." He said and I looked to the ground hiding the large grin on my face.
"Yeah for sure." I said shrugging so he couldn't tell how happy I was.
After he left I went to sleep with a big ass smile on my face.
