"Good man?" finally comes to an end! Hope you enjoy
Matthew felt an ungodly amount of rage boil his veins. How could someone do this to his friend!?
It was terrible! It was horrible! It was....
God, Alfred shouldn't go through that. They were just teenagers!
Despite all the guilt, there was deep sense of grief and guilt that permeated Matthew's entire being. He was Alfred's friend. They were supposed to watch out for each other. And he, Matthew, had let his best friend be raped.
By his father nonetheless!
How could Father do this to him?! Didn't he want the best for his son?
Matthew....well, he wasn't so sure. At every turn, Father sabotaged Matthew. When had tried to enter one of his poems in a competition, Father had pulled it out saying that books and quills were for the dandies, not for the upright Kirkland family.
Matthew could see why Father's brothers would tease him. He was a terrible man! He was bitter, he was stubborn, he was a prick! There was not an ounce of goodness in his bones.
How had Father even landed the sweet, elegant Francine?!
They were so incompatible. A divorce would be a godsend. Neither of them were happy!
Father ran away with Alfred, to relive his youth. While Mother, drank herself to oblivion.
Speak of the devil, and he will come.
There was a knock at Matthew's old, oak door.
It was Father.
He was ragged and looked tired. He looked like an old man.
"Matthew, can I talk to you for a second?" His poisonous green eyes begged.
Matthew didn't respond, Father wasn't worth his time.
With no response, Arthur let out a sigh.
"Look, I know this is hard for you.....but you have to understand, sometimes adults get these...cravings, yes craving! That they must fulfill. I really did not mean to hurt you. I love you Matthew, you know that right?"
Matthew bit his lip so hard it bled, how much of an idiot could one person be! Arthur seemed oblivious to his son's emotions, so he continued.
"I know that this is a confusing time for you, Matthew, but you must understand I love and cherish Alfred. I know this might be awkward for you, him being your friend and all. But it is true love!"
Love!? How could raping someone be love!
Was love raping someone, and then leaving them crying and sobbing, only for their son to find them?! Was love forcing yourself on someone half your age!? Was love completing ruining someone and making them a shell of a person?!
WAS THAT LOVE, ARTHUR!!!
Matthew felt an insane rage course through him. The hatred seemed to stain his soul. There was a promise in violet eyes. A promise of revenge. Matthew would do whatever, even murder, to get back at Father. That was a promise.
Arthur's green eyes glanced back at his son, hoping for acceptance of his new lover.
When his emerald eyes met the lavender eyes of Matthew, Arthur was shocked. There was some weird glint in his son's eyes.
Arthur felt scared.
"How could you say that?" Matthew questioned.
"I'm a good man, Matthew!" Arthur quickly defended, aware of his son's accusations.
Matthew stared blankly. Was Fathe-no, Arthur really that....stupid?
"No, Arthur you're a monster."
The end
