Poem 3: Summer Heat

The marshmallow on the stick,

gooey like my heart.

When I see you I melt quick,

like heat on an icy part.

The setting sun dimming my eyes,

where I can't see you any longer.

Every moment without you a piece of me dies.

I hear your voice telling me: "They're not stronger".

Remembering your encouraging words:

"You'll make it through this."

Back when we were as free as the birds.

When I didn't have someone to miss.

I remember our first date.

"You're the one I love", you told me.

But I was to blind to see.
