Lucia was sitting in Luz's room. The walls were plastered in posters and photos. There was a large window with a desk directly beside it. In one corner was a closet with an abandoned hamper. In the other corner was a bed. Paper, clothing and junk littered the floor. On instinct Lucia began picking up the clothing and throwing it into the dusty hamper in the corner. Silently Amity copied her, the two cleaning Luz's room. Eventually you could see the floor, together they sat down facing one another. Amity placed a pencil and some paper in front of Lucia.

"This is a spell circle." Amity said scribbling down a symbol on the paper.

"Looks like a gang symbol." Lucia responded.

Amity rolled her eyes and tapped the symbol. It began to grow and glow. Lighting up into a small ball that floated past Lucia's nose.

Unable to contain herself, Lucia licked the ball.

It was an unbelievably stupid idea, it was a ball of light. What did Lucia expect?

With a burnt tongue, Lucia frowned.

"Why did you lick it?" Amity asked basically yelling. The green haired witch conjured up some ice and placed it into one of Luz's few clean t-shirts.

"I don't know? Why didn't you stop me?" Lucia asked back before icing her tongue.

Amity frowned, her eyes wide in disbelief. "First of all, Who licks pure light? Second, how was I suppose to know you'd lick it?"

"You think I Wouldn't lick it?" Lucia asked back shocked. "I lick everything."

Amity looked like she was getting a terrible migraine. "Here" she scribbled down eight symbols. "Take a picture with your scroll."

Lucia didn't know what a scroll was so she just pulled out her phone. She snapped a photo in confusion. "What do I use these for?"

"These symbols or glyphs as we call them are Light, fire, water, ice, earth, wind, plant, and darkness. All of Luz's magic stems from these 8." Amity explained giving exposition.

"Luz's magic? And isn't ice and water the same thing?" Lucia's tongue was feeling better now.

"Luz uses a form of magic called wild magic, which utilizes paper as the vessel instead of the soul. Also the author can only think of so many elements." Amity responded.

"Ah." Lucia replied as she looked over the paper. "So if I mix these gang symbols I can do different magic spells?"

"Glyphs! And yes for example light glyphs mixed with earth glyphs make Illusions." Amity sighed as she stood up.

"So does Ice and Fire make evaporation?" Lucia joked as she stayed on the ground.

"Yes, if you mix that glyph with wind then you get clouds." Amity responded as she grabbed a notebook from Luz's desk.

Lucia raised an eye, surprised that her joke carried weight.

"So how do I get home?"

Amity sat down and slid the notebook towards Lucia. "Luz spent the past 5 years pouring her heart and soul into magic. I showed her the teleportation spell once and she got it down. If you want to get home, you have to see what she saw and figure out what glyph pattern she used."

"Can't you do that?" Lucia asked slightly complaining. She frowned as she opened the notebook. The dark blue cover was covered in scratches and marks. On the pages were scribbles, descriptions and blood? Lucia sniffed the book,
'nope not blood. Jam...'
Lucia continued to go through the book.

"Witches cant see glyphs," Amity explained.

Lucia looked at her in confusion.

"I mean... after they are written out on paper we can copy and use them. But we cant see them naturally. As a witch my eyes aren't capable of finding glyphs within magic." Amity finished explaining.

Lucia closed the book. "So to get home, I need to learn to see glyphs and understand them to the point of finding them in day to day objects, then be able to decipher those glyphs to insure that I don't die?"

Amity nodded. "I only know a little, but I can help you get started."

So there Lucia sat as she began her magic lessons, sitting on the floor of Luz's room. In a world that shouldn't exist.
