(5/2021)

here's some short but not succinct advice from some amateur that's slowly improving:

For word games, theres not much scrabble or dictionary practice you can do. You can fill your head with all those eloquent words only to find that they aren't compatible with your provided grid or whatever. So all you should do is practice within your confines for this purpose. You pick up speed and acquire the ability to discern words among scattered letters as you go...

Also, try practicing with people who are worse than you at first (this might vary between people with different personalities). Some might think versing the better expose them to their room for improvement and the possibility to follow suit. Others are only diminished and belittled, so they should rehearse with others until they feel like they're ready.

I have a specific example of that. Back in September 2020, I used to play filler and mancala with someone (lets call them "hamseed") and I'd always lose (probably because those days were even more delirious and aimless than these days). (I'd win connect 4, CRAYZ8, & darts though). However, after a month of prep with dolphino4, I eventually resurfaced like a hammer through paper.

Then me playing Word Bites against that one friend who says they've rusted is another epitome. ^v^
