Sᴄᴀᴠᴇɴɢᴇʀ ʜᴜɴᴛ~3

Yashiro Nene sat against a wall and huffed.
 
"I'm beat. We have checked all the rooms and stairs, there surely can't be anymore left now."
 
"I suppose not, it’s almost time to meet up with Akane and Aoi anyways." Ryuu said checking his watch.
 
Kou walked up to the corridor window and pressd his forehead against the cool glass. He watched the groups assemble together and walk around.
 
Nene joined him and pressed her hands against it too. "Hey.. That’s Aoi and Akane!! Let’s go and meet up with them," she exclaimed and rushed down the stairs in a hurry,"Hurry up you two!" The sound of her foot steps faded sKou turned to look at Ryuu as he turned to walk down the stairs. He couldn't help but catch a glimpse of sadness in his eyes as he placed the last egg in the basket.
 
The 2nd year rubbed his face with his hand and put on a cheery smile.
 
That’s fake..?
 
As he tuned to look at the stairs Kou had already left.

"AOI!"
 
"NENE"
 
2 two girls called their name back and forth as they ran into an embrace.
 
"That's not fair where's my hug.?" Akane complained playfully, putting a hand to his chest and putting on an act.
 
"You've had enough love today," she said as she kissed his nose, "hubba bubba we need to count the eggs quick, how many did you three collect?"
 
"About 17, how about you two?" Ryuu said as he joined the group.
 
"We have 12. Me and Aoi did find a few more but the other groups rushed there before us."
 
Kou stood in the circle awkwardly, especially since Ryuu had chosen to stand next to him. He kept sneaking little glances at the upperclassman.
 
Kou couldn't help but think for a slight second that maybe there was a reason for his actions, but Hanako's words lingered in his head from about a year ago.
 
"Yashiro is going to die within the next year"
 
He remembered the restless nights he had in two situations. One was when he found out about Yashiro's death but the other one was even further back. After his younger sister Tiara was born, his mother's health declined. He remembered staying up all night just thinking. After a few months or so his mother was gone. He knew the pain and didn't want to lose another precious person in his life.
 
"May one student from each group take the eggs to the desk and await the results." Akane put the eggs he and Aoi collected into the basket and Ryuu volunteered to go to get them checked.
 
Yashiro gazed at the boy as he walked to the desk. She remembered the sudden incidents that happened that day and a small blush grew on her face.
 
"Looks like somebody's got a crush~" Aoi stood behind her and put her hands on Yashiro's shoulder.
 
"W-what??," Yashiro stuttered and blushed frantically, trying to buy herself out of this conversation, "I-i swear its nothing like that!"
 
Akane and Kou stood behind the two, laughing at their antics.
 
"You seem really on edge today, is something wrong? It’s fine to tell me, its a man to man conversation!" Kou listened to Akane and sulked. He wanted to talk to someone but he knew he couldn't tell him, of all people, about this.
 
"Let's just say if I’m not careful I could lose someone important to me soon." Akane smiled sympathetically and thumped him on his back.
 
"Cheer up! Let's enjoy ourselves for now."
 
A teacher stood upon the podium near the middle of the field and called all the students to announce the winners.
 
Aoi dragged Nene by her hand and led the boys behind her.
 
They met up with Ryuu who was waving at them with a big grin on his face.
 
"So the 3rd place goes to Aiko and her team with 25 eggs, 2nd place goes to team Akane and his team with 29 eggs and 1st place goes to team Haru and his team with 31 eggs, well done everyone, we will call you over for the evening meal."
 
"Yess!! 2nd place!! That means we have 5 points so far!!" The 5 of them rejoiced and congratulated each other.
 
"Me and Nene are going to head over to the gardening club area since I doubt anyone has been watering our plants!! We will see you guys afterwards" Aoi confirmed before linking arms with her best friend and walked away.
 
The boys stood together awkwardly, thinking of something to say.
 
"Hey you guys wanna hit the vending machine and get some snack?" Ryuu suggested and the other two nodded.

The teacher stood upon the podium after an hour and called out to the students once again. The dinner was some hot rice and meat curry buns.
 
The 5 all sat together subconsciously, Ryuu next to Nene and Nene next to Aoi; Kou opposite Nene and Akane opposite Aoi.
 
They all chat among themselves and Nene sat there unusually quiet. She didn't know why but no matter how hard she tried she could eat any of the food. She felt empty. She pushed her food around her plate until she had enough. 
 
"Nene are you okay? You haven't eaten a single bite yet."
 
"Kou-kun I’m fine I’m just.. not hungry I suppose, thank you though," Nene stood up and put her plate away, "I think I might take it easy and sleep earlier, see you guys tomorrow."
 
They watched her walk into the main building, except Ryuu who had been staring deeply into his plate for some time.
 
"That's unusual of Nene, Ill check up on her later." Aoi returned to her food and so did the others, only they couldn't stop thinking about their friend.
 
...
 
Yashiro sat on the window sill in their assigned classroom, hugging her knees into her chest, she looked out of the window.
 
'He isn't a human! He died years ago'
 
Kou's words had been stuck in her head for a while now. She told herself she didn't believe it but there was a part of her that wanted to explore this even more. Lately she hadn't been herself. She didn't show it but she felt it. She felt like a part of her was missing. 
 
Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock on her door. She suspected it was Aoi and went to open it, wanting to apologize for disappearing so suddenly.
 
She opened the door only to be face-to-face with her beloved ghost friend.
 
"H-hanako, where have you been all day?!"
 
The ghost boy smiled and pulled Nene into a hug. "Missed me, eh?"
 
Nene blushed and pushed the ghost away, turning around to recover.
 
"N-never mind that, why are you here?"
 
The ghost grinned and pulled her by her left wrist.
 
"I- woah-" Yashiro followed behind him, making sure they didn't accidentally encounter anyone.
 
He lead her up the staircases and into a little room on the top floor. He closed the door behind them and let go of her arms. Turning the light on with the switch.
 
Yashiro's eyes led up to ladder that seemed to lead to the roof. Hanako bowed down and grinned, telling her to get up first.
 
She grinned and climbed the ladder, making sure she wouldn't slip. As her head popped out of the hatch her eyes met the sun that was hiding behind the hill a few miles away from the school. 
 
"It's so pretty..." Yashiro said, looking for words. Hanako climbed up and walked past her, sitting on the edge of the roof. 
 
"Why did you bring me here,?" Nene questioned, sitting besides him, "It seems like forever since we have been like this together."
 
"I don't really know, maybe I got lonely.." Hanako watched the orange orb in the sky slowly disappear, its rays of light vanishing from the school grounds. Yashiro swung her legs slightly over the edge and tightened the grip on her hands. "Hanako, were you afraid of dying once?" The boy stared at the girls blank face as she stared down at the ground. Her eyes were sad and scared. He looked back down. 
 
"I mean, not really. It only hurt for a second, the next thing I knew, I had awoken as a wonder."
 
He flinched slightly in surprise as Nene placed her hand on top oh his. He looked up to her face to see tears flowing down her face. She had a forced smile on her face. 
 
"I feel like I'm dying. I feel like I'm losing a part of myself every day," Hanako felt his chest tighten. His hand was help inbetween both of Nene's , "Hanako, I don't wanna die yet. I want to keep living."
 
Hanako bit his lip as he re thunk his words. "Nene, please.. for my sake, for Kou's, Stay away from Ryuu."
 
 That was the last straw, Yashiro had enough of these stupid assumptions.
 
"WHY DO YOU KEEP ASSUMING RYUU IS A BAD PERSON. HE'S MADE ME FEEL LOVED AND ALIVE THESE PAST DAYS. YOU HAVN'T EVEN GOTTEN TO KNOW HIM YET! I THOUGHT MAYBE YOU, YOU WERE DIFFERENT FROM EVERYONE ELSE." 
 
Hanako had never seen Nene snap, "Yashiro please, i l-"
 
Nene pulled her hand away and cut him off, "I don't wanna hear your excuses Hanako, I just need some time alone..."
 
He sat there. Did it just end like that? Was this the end of it? Is her fate still gonna be the same then?
 
He placed his head into his hands and screamed in his head. He felt a tap on his shoulder and he looked up. A girl stood there. He knew that look she gave. The hair and her sweet smile. She looked like an angel. She wore a white dress and she seemes to shine brighter than anything else around them.
 
"K-koko-?" Hanako got to his feet and stroked the face of his old lover. The girl pulled his hand down and held onto it. He was scared to blink. Scared that it was yet another hallucination. Scared that she would disappear yet again.
 
"Hanako," she said in her melodious voice, "forget about me, think about Nene. Save her, give her the love I couldn't give to you."
 
She wiped away the tear that flowed down his right cheek.
 
"I love you, but our chapter is over. Move on and save Nene. For me. Start a new chaoter with her. Create one we both could have dreamed to have together." Hanako took in evey word she said. By now he had tears flowing down his cheeks, he wiped then away like a little kid.
 
"Koko.. why did you leave me?" Hanako asked. He knew she had only a few moments left with him but he just had to know, to put his mind at ease.
 
The girl started fading away into little triangle pieces starting from the bottom of her dress. She stared at the ghost boy a little longer and answered his question, he could hear the regret in her words.
 
"A little bird told me that this was my fate. "
 
As she said her last word she had gone, floating into the sky in millions of triangle pieces.
 
Hanako watched her lead her way to the place up above.
 
"Thank you Koko..," he mumbled, "I will save her no matter the cost. I won't give up on you Yashiro."

Sorry for the late update. I wanted to finish the end of this 'arc' in this chapter. Sorry if it sounds rushed, i wrote this tonight and i wanna get some sleep now x
