Flashes of the Past (Part 2)

The Palace

After a long day of work, Oscar finally comes to a rest. He was greeted by the household staff as he enters the residential area and he greeted them back.

"Andyan na po pala kayo, Mr. President. Maupo na po kayo, ihahanda po namin ang hapunan niyo." Doray gave him a warm smile. Oscar smiled back as he reaches for the chair to sit down. Doray, Aling Loring, and Elizabeth prepared his food and noticed that Oscar is a bit languid.

"Mr. President, kain na po kayo." Doray encouraged.

"Mukhang wala kayong gana kumain Mr. President."  Elizabeth speaks sadly.

"Dahil po ba..." Aling Loring hesitates. "...kay Ms. Lily?" Aling Loring continued.

"Pa'no mo naman nasabi?" Oscar asked.

"Eh k-kasi po, narinig namin sa mga PSG kahapon na kasama daw po ni Ms. Lily yung..." she paused and gulped. "...e-ex niya po . T-totoo po ba yun?" Doray mumbled.

"Oo." Oscar answered plainly. " Pero may tiwala naman ako kay Lily. At isa pa, nandoon naman si Edwin para masiguradong ligtas si Lily." he  added.

"Ligtas sa ex niya" Elizabeth whispered. Aling Loring scolded her by elbowing her arm lightly.

"Sa pagkakakilala ko naman po kay Ms. Lily eh, parang hindi po niya kayang manakit ng tao. Lalo na po sainyo. 'Wag po kayong mag-alala Mr. President, sigurado po akong hindi gagawa si Ms. Lily ng ikasisira ng relasyon niyo." Aling Loring assurringly states.

"Ahh, eh, kung ganon po kumain na kayo. Sigurado po akong magagalit si Ms. Lily kung malalaman niyang hindi ka kumain." Aling Loring slowly moved the bowled dish in front of Oscar. The president eyed the ladies one-by-one as they give him their comforting smiles.

"Salamat." Oscar felt a bit relieved. "Sige na, sabayan niyo na ako." Oscar insisted. The ladies didn't hesitate to do so.

After two days.

Anton stands on the side as he supervises the staff and watches the flow of their operation. This makes him think deeply again, makes him look back on how his relationship with Lily failed. Reminiscing the missed dinner dates and missed plans, back in the days where Lily was too busy and didn't have enough time for him.

Flashback...

"Hon, I have good news!" Lily exclaimed, approaching Anton as he prepares their dinner.

"Ano 'yon?" he asked, surprised by her sudden excitement.

"Rumors are out that Mrs. Torres of Vera Grace Inc. is finding for potential companies to invest in. Tinawagan kami ng team niya! They scheduled a meeting this weekend!" she exclaimed.

"This weekend? We're going out of town this weekend, remember?" Anton reminds, slowly laying the plates on the table.

"About that..." she paused as she bites her lower lip, giving Anton a guilty look.

"Hindi nanaman matutuloy." he sadly preceded. "Lily this is supposed to be our post-anniversary celebration since hindi tayo nakapag celebrate last month dahil masyado kang busy." he complained.

"I know!" she steps closer to him. "Hon, I'm sorry. Gusto ko naman talaga pumunta but Mrs. Torres can greatly benefit the company." Lily apologized and held his hand. "I promise babawi ako."

"Okay." his plain answer. He gave Lily a soft smile even though he's disappointed deep inside.
